Slept badly last night. Haven't read many posts but the titles give the feelings away. Wonder how many of the posters actually went?

Team selection gave the game away. Same old, same old, little creativity, poor tactics and poor execution.
Started reasonably brightly and had ' fleet on the back foot. Patrick showed up well particularly in the first half.
Gave away a daft goal with a speculative ball across the box hitting Jennings and dropping into the net with Lainton stranded.
Unlike Tuesday last, heads didn't drop and we fought our way back into the game against an equally poor side. Deserved the Equaliser from Kennedy who was MOM for us.
Their winner was a cracking strike from a poorly cleared corner giving the player far too much space as we didn't close the shot down.
Tried hard to get back in the game but effort isn't enough and although we opened them up a few times we failed to get on the end of good balls into the box which could literally have been tap ins.
Overall performance disjointed and disappointing. One or two good moments but lack of a real striker and no No.10 was our downfall.
Game of IF'S ( with apologies to Rudyard Kipling)
IF we had a left back who wasn't easily beaten they wouldn't have had many chances.
IF Pearson hadn't slipped when his man turned back they wouldn't have got the first goal.
IF Lawler could actually play the ball to one of his own rather than hoofing it the length of the field for a goal kick we'd have been better off.
IF our centre backs could actually head a ball to our own men rather than just up in the air, I'd be pleasantly surprised / shocked.
IF we had more like Kennedy we'd have won at a canter.
IF we had a 3 man midfield, rather than Young and two useless objects in Summers and Wright we'd have been home and dry.
IF we had more players with the enthusiasm of Rutherford we would be
challenging. Most of our better moves came through him and Kennedy down the right flank.
IF Grant was 6 foot 2 he'd be a target man, as it is he's cannon fodder for opposition CB's Plenty of effort but no support.
IF Patrick plays a full 90 like he did the first half we wouldn't be crying today.

IF, IF. IF. we had a manager who had half a brain and half a clue we wouldn't be in the SH1T.

We have enough players at the club, good enough to get us out of this mess, they are just not being used effectively by a totally clueless manager.

Not one to normally call for heads on a plate but we are rapidly falling towards NLN with a £1million quid in the bank and a load of dross managing the team. Bench full of players, 2 - 1 down. Takes one of the 3 decent players off and puts Harris on.

I'll be at Eastleigh for my sins on Tuesday. Not going with any real expectation of a result but Hope springs eternal.

Apologies for the long winded tirade.

When somebody like Quay Red posts a report like this you know the situation is bad. It looks like Spencer FC are doomed.

I disagree about lack of effort from Grant. He ran his bits off against Yeovil. That said I have missed a number of games recently so....

Player of the season thus far for me would be Young

No apology needed your view is the view of many. Absolute joke we are on the field. Players frozen out who are actually strikers then playing Grant as a target man ( not grants fault ). Of all our faults that is the worst one of the lot

Critical of Keates appointment and currently being proved right.
I fully understand the criticism of the board and process for managerial appointments but I'm sure they act / acted in good faith. Some even welcomed DK's return as if he was the Messiah.

Some decent money needs to be spent in January and in specific areas, midfield general and striker (even if Hooper gets fit) Convinced that Keates should not be given money though as he hasn't a clue how and where to spend it. (Would probably get 2 more CB's as cover and more rabid running dogs for midfield.
No use saving for a rainy day when the roof is leaking and it's pissing down. Look for a new manager now who can achieve what's needed, no more cheap options.

Agree Quay Red but you can’t give Keates a load of money. Can we trust him to spend it wisely? He’ll probably blow it on another right back.

This is the elephant in the room.

It will a waste of yet more money on pay-offs, but Keates, Davies and Darlington have got to go.

We need a dead cat bounce to take us into January when recruitment can happen. We cannot wait and squander more points.
