Dean Keates record

I read on Red Passion a number of posts from supporters who want Keates sacked. In the interest of fairness I did a bit of digging to find some facts about his record. I found the following from the Shropshire star.

"Keates first spell in charge at Wrexham began in in October 2016 when he took over a struggling team in 16th place and guided them to safety. His first full season in charge had Wrexham on course for the play offs until he left for Walsall in March 2018. He left Wrexham in fourth place having kept a club record of 20 clean sheets. A 13 game unbeaten run and having lost only 6 games all season."

I know a lot of fans were not happy with the football at the time but that is a decent record. If he reproduced something like that now it would certainly get us out of trouble.

he also spent £100k of money donated by fans from their own pockets as they believed him and he repayed them by walking out at a crucial time of the season.
I dont want this man anywhere near our club never mind as manager,

His football is shit, he's disloyal and his coaching team is abysmal.

He's the only manager in the world I wouldn't have swapped Hughes for

Keates has said yesterday that he will have to wait for the new players he wants until January. Kennedy and Patrick will be at the top of the list I expect. His previous track record at Wrexham is good .

He didn’t guide us to safety when he took over, that’s a myth

Then after blackmailing the club as a player for a new contract, purposely causing trouble to get Wilkin sacked and purposely playing poorly to get him sacked the club still stood by him

Gave him well paid contracts over and over again despite his legs going, letting him keep the captaincy so he could fulfill his lifelong dream of lifting a trophy at Wembley, allowed him to play and study his coaching degree at the same time (which is rare considering the others that were enrolled were very young and not first team squad material, paid for his degree for three years, have him his first break in management, gave him and increased budget, gave him literally every ounce of support possible and fans dug deep and gave £100,000 out of their own pockets for him to spit in the clubs face when we were close to achieving what he knew full well the fans were so desperate for. From his playing days he knew how badly fans were hurting

Add to that Don and Barry Horne leaving in protest of Keates’ appointment which has lead to terrible footballing management

Add to that his god awful record this time round. Doing worse than Bryan Hughes despite playing the majority of his games at home

Great post. I will never support Keates as our manager.

Is this on record anywhere? I always assumed they went after their mismanagement of the Mills situation? You know, appointing him at great expense and then letting him run the club into the ground?
