Chambers loaned to Chelmsford

Chambers looked far too gaff-prone for my liking.

Wasn't upto it and even worse we relied on him far more than we should have because of injuries and suspicions.

An ex-work colleague of mine supports Dulwich and I asked him a couple of weeks ago what he thought of MC. His reply was quite interesting:
"Michael is a really interesting case in point. He did really well for us and was under contract. When Wrexham came in for him he was hopeful that it was a short step from there into the football league. Wrexham (understandably) weren't prepared to pay a transfer fee or buy his contract out. I think at the League 2/ Conf/ Conf South level, it's partly luck, but it's also the ability to play at the higher level consistently. And, sadly, I fear Michael hasn't got it for higher leagues".

If a fan, albeit quite a knowledgeable one, can see this how on earth did we come to sign him? Was he recommended? If so, by who? Did any of our then management team actually see the lad play? The same questions could be asked about the rest of our summer signings.

Year in, year out, we waste huge percentages of resources on utter garbage. All football clubs, every season, have a lemon on their books, but we do seem to have more than our fair share.

If you watch the Michael Chambers interview when he first signed for the club, he mentions how he was comfortable playing in a back 3 and had done so a lot for Dulwich last season. This, of course, was a formation we had been trialling over the summer. But what was extremely worrying to me at the time was he then goes on to add that Bryan Hughes didn't know any of this until after he had signed when Chambers himself told him. Thus proving that Hughes couldn't have watched him at all last season and knew virtually nothing about the player.
