I'm far from Akil Busquets' biggest fan but he was quality today and Tuesday (going off the highlights). Foxy thought Osbourne (their no. 7) was the best performance at the Racecourse this season but I thought Akil was far better today. 3-5-2 seems to suit him and many others

Foxy is right. Osborne is an incredible player at this level, he dictated play and when he chose or carry the ball we couldn't dispose him. In the drapest of boring displays he was a glimmer of what entertaining football can look like

Two signings so far, both scored and both settled well and made an positive impact.

You're forgetting Reid, aren't you? But sounds like Patrick and Kennedy have both been great so far.

Some very high ratings on this thread for what was a mixed performance. So far this season the ball hasn’t dropped for us and we have been unlucky. The second half today was the opposite . Evidence from the season, and last season, continues to indicate that we are very much a mid table side.

Lainton 7
Carrington 7
Lawlor 7
Pearson 7
Kennedy 7
Jennings 7
Young 6
Wright 6
Rutherford 6
Grant 5
Patrick 7

I thought it was one of the best overall team performances in months at The Racecourse.

Lainton: 8 - Made some great saves (the one early in the second half being a standout one) and had his thinking cap on when it came to running down the clock. Can't fault him today, but I went with 8 since Solihull didn't test him that often. He's proven time and time again that he's head and shoulders above Dibble.
Carrington: 7 - Your typical Carrington performance. Steady, helps out with both attack and defence and rarely makes a mistake.
Lawlor: 7 - Did his part in keeping the clean sheet, a lot of people thought he was better than I did today, but I certainly wouldn't say he had a bad game. Held his own from all the long throw-ins he had to deal with too.
Pearson: 7 - Keates tactics have always suited Pearson where he gets a little extra support from the midfield, and it showed today. He didn't put a foot wrong and commanded the defence well. Helped wind up the Solihull forwards as well.
Kennedy: 7 - Definite improvement over Chambers. Read the game really well. Lawlor/Pearson/Kennedy is a solid back three at this level.
Jennings: 7 - Got himself a goal and a clean sheet. Helped out on the left hand side like normal and provided an attacking outlet.
Young: 6 - Helped out well enough but didn't get involved as much as I would have liked.
Wright: 8 - As much as a part of the clean sheet as the back three, I thought. Made some vital tackles and interceptions and didn't make life easy for the Solihull midfield at all. He's better in this formation where he doesn't have to be a box-to-box midfielder.
Rutherford: 6 - Worked hard, ran around etc. Usual Ruthers.
Grant: 6 - Didn't really get to do much. Had that massive lump Gudger on him all game.
Patrick: 8 - MOTM. Caused them problems from the off to when he was subbed. It's nice to have someone who is confident with the ball in the final third. I would say Keates should try to keep him but every time someone does well on loan and comes back they're never as good as before.

Sub was Oswell, who didn't really get a chance to do much so no rating for him.

Until he can do it in a decent ball playing side I'm not having it.
