We still had an outside chance of the play offs when we got rid of Hughes. That chance disappeared when we went back to Keates.

I know it's unlikely, but it is POSSIBLE to gain promotion, so lets inject some positivity until promotion is impossible.

Firstly can I ask if anyone knows of any team who has been promoted after being last at the half way mark? If not we are a "chance" of creating history.

On current projections we require 73 points to sneak into 7th spot. That's 47 points from 21 games.

Win 15 Draw 2 lose 4 and we should make it. We would be on a roll so promotion would then be more than possible.

So lets see how far we go until we can't make it. I will update after each game until we are done. Like to think we could give it a shake.

For those more conservative supporters, happy also to mention "what we need to stay up". Ill start you off by saying we need 50 points. So that's 24 points from 21 games or Win 6 Draw 6 Lose 9.

Whatever you have you been drinking...I'd like a pint of it please....I will be happy to achieve a mid table position as soon as possible.....have an end of season clear out in the boardroom and boot room....restructure the Club and start next season afresh with new hope and and real ambition.

Let's walk before we can run. I think this season is all about securing our survival as quickly as possible. If by some minor miracle we go on a great run of form and make it to the play-offs, great, but I'm not holding my breath.

Get it so we can't mathematically be relegated, call this season a miss and focus on a promotion push in 2020/21. Call me negative if you must, but I don't think a promotion push is realistic for this season.

Just plain silly talk - last week we were bottom of the league.

The club is not geared up to gain promotion - too much division off field - we have had better teams in the past and failed - lets just concentrate on getting well away from the bottom four places in good time for the last game of the season - don't want to go to Stockport on the last day needing a result to stay up - the mad thing is that after about 15 minutes today all other results of the struggling pack at the bottom of the league were going against us and we were back at the bottom of the league - Mike Fondop had put Chesterfield ahead with his 9th goal of the season and Chorley were leading at Stockport - within 5 minutes all was changing but we have some crucial games coming up at Maidenhead, Sutton and Chorley x 2 - we need to get results on a regular basis - winning two is no good if we lose four against our rivals - but it's been a massive positive last 6 days.

We were briefly bottom of the league today. As others have said it'll take unbelievable form to even reach the play offs, let alone win them.

Mathematically not impossible but so improbable it's not really worth thinking about. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
