Q&A REVIEW | Your thoughts, was your question answered?

What is your response to the Q&A, was it a success? Did you have your question answered? Are you happy with the questions that the board selected to answer? Are you happy with the answers that they gave?

I submitted 81 questions on behalf of myself and other supporters, 0 were answered directly, some were answered from other supporters that were similar to what I had submitted. I will now be emailing the board to ask why there wasn't a single question answered that was submitted by myself.

If you submitted a question that wasn't answered or if you would like to followup on the answer that you received get in touch and I will chase it up for you.

Here's my list of questions:
Management & Coaching:

1. NOT ANSWERED: Why was the vote on whether to sack Bryan Hughes taken by the WST board, when policy says it should have been taken by the club board, then ratified by the WST board?

2. NOT ANSWERED: The board minutes for the meeting in which the decision to sack Bryan Hughes was taken say that one option was "in favour of retaining BH with an experienced assistant." Is there a reason Brian Flynn wasn't mentioned by name as the experienced assistant, given he was already the assistant manager?

3. NOT ANSWERED: How many days a week was Brian Flynn employed for?

4. NOT ANSWERED: Does the board consider an experienced assistant manager important if appointing an inexperienced manager? If so, why was the decision made to bring Andy Davies back to the club to assist the inexperienced Dean Keates?

5. NOT ANSWERED: Was there thought towards the failure of Andy Davies when he took over as manager from Dean Keates when we promoted Graham Barrow from assistant manager to manager?

6. NOT ANSWERED: Have all managers been given the full opportunity to bring in their own backstage staff, or were they expected to keep Carl Darlington in position?

7. NOT ANSWERED: Have the board denied, blocked or in any way prevented the removal or involvement, either partially or fully, of Carl Darlington from his coaching duties at the request of the manager of Wrexham AFC?

8. NOT ANSWERED: What attempt(s) were made to retain the services of Sam Ricketts when interest from Shrewsbury was made known?

9. NOT ANSWERED: Could the board have outright refused Sam Ricketts permission to speak to Shrewsbury and retained his services until the end of the 2018/19 season? If not, why not?

10. NOT ANSWERED: Were any individuals approached to take up the role of manager once Bryan Hughes departed the club? If not, when was the last time an individual was approached for the manager’s position at Wrexham AFC?

11. NOT ANSWERED: It was stated at a member meeting that Graham Barrow had a change of heart about whether he wanted the vacant manager's position at Wrexham AFC due to the low calibre of applicants at the time. Does this concern the board? Has the calibre of applicants increased or decreased in recent years?

12. NOT ANSWERED: On which date did Graham Barrow make his intention known to the board that he wished to resign from his position as manager of Wrexham AFC?

13. NOT ANSWERED: Being as specific as possible, what qualities did Graham Barrow possess that made him more suitable for the manager's position than the other applicants?

14. ANSWERED (But not directly): Being as specific as possible, what qualities did Bryan Hughes possess that made him more suitable for the manager's position than the other applicants?

15. NOT ANSWERED: Being as specific as possible, what qualities did Dean Keates possess that made him more suitable for the manager's position than the other applicants?

16. NOT ANSWERED: It has been stated by board members within the last five years that the vacant managers position at Wrexham AFC has attracted over 100 applicants. After Bryan Hughes' departure, it was stated that there were around 20 applicants. Has the volume of applicants increased or decreased in recent years and what are your thoughts on the changes?

17. NOT ANSWERED: . Was the board aware of supporter’s feelings towards Dean Keates and some of their intentions to boycott fixtures until he was no longer employed at the football club? If so, did this have any bearing on the board's decision? If not, would this have had any bearing on any future decisions made by the board?

18. NOT ANSWERED: Does the board consider the re-appointment of Dean Keates to be a risk at a time of growing tensions and divides amongst our fan base?

19. NOT ANSWERED: How many scouts does our current scouting network consist of? Is it true that Bryan Hughes stopped us from scouting potential new recruits? If so, is it still the case that you're happy for managers to make a decision like this, rather than the board having a scouting policy in place?

20. NOT ANSWERED: On the 2nd May 2018 Sam Ricketts was appointed manager, on the 8th May 2018 a meet the manager event occurred. On the 18th December 2018 Graham Barrow was appointed manager, on the 16th January 2019 a meet the manager event occurred. On the 6th February 2019 Bryan Hughes was appointed manager, the next day a meet the manager event occurred. Why, after over two months, has there not been a meet the manager event with Dean Keates? Does the club intend to hold a meet the manager event with Dean Keates?

21. NOT ANSWERED: Has Dean Keates met the board's expectations thus far? What are the boards minimum expectations for the end of the season?

22. NOT ANSWERED:
Was the board aware of any altercations or misconduct from senior players employed at Wrexham AFC with then-manager Kevin Wilkin?

23. NOT ANSWERED: Was the board aware of the sparse training schedule employed by then-manager Gary Mills? If so, were steps taken to increase productivity and performances?

24. NOT ANSWERED: Was the board aware of the 'culture' at the football club under Gary Mills' tenure? If so, were steps taken to correct this?

25. NOT ANSWERED: Was the board satisfied with the agent's fees that were paid by the football club during the 2016/17 season?

On the pitch:

1. NOT ANSWERED: Is there a reason for certain items of news - such as Manny Smith's signing a new contract last season - to be kept from members until a later point, rather than announced at the first possible opportunity? Why was Manny Smith’s contract extension never announced?

2. NOT ANSWERED: Are there any plans to terminate the contract of Manny Smith given the severity of his injury?

3. NOT ANSWERED: Is there insurance in place to cover the cost of Manny Smith's wages whilst he is unavailable for selection?

4. NOT ANSWERED: If JJ Hooper has been declared fit and available for selection, why is he ruling himself out of selection? Has he been reprimanded for his actions?

5. NOT ANSWERED: Was Bobby Grant reprimanded for making obscene gestures and comments towards Wrexham fans at one or more fixtures whilst employed at the football club?

6. NOT ANSWERED: Does the board feel that the decisions that they made after November 2018 had a negative effect on the performance and finishing league position of the 2018/19 season?

7. NOT ANSWERED: Given the increase of 20% in the football budget with additional money due to be spent in January 2020, do you agree that a significant amount of money has been wasted?

8. NOT ANSWERED: Does the board feel that a paid, independent director of football or chief executive officer would have been a better use of additional funds given to this seasons budget?

9. NOT ANSWERED: Why are the vacant positions left by Don Bircham and Barry Horne, who left in 2016, yet to be filled?

10. NOT ANSWERED: Does the board consider one playoff appearance in the past six years to be acceptable? If not, why has the football clubs aim repeatedly been missed? What are your minimum aims for the next six years?

Board:

1. NOT ANSWERED: Has the resolution passed this year, instructing that members of the WST board start to shadow members of the football club board, been fully implemented? If so, could we have a list of the shadowing people and who they are shadowing?

2. NOT ANSWERED: Why are the board minutes so slow to go up to the website at the moment, with the last two sets not appearing until after a former Trust chairman had e-mailed the WST pointing out they weren't up, and the issue had been raised on Red Passion?

3. Not answered but a replacement is now in place: What progress has been made in replacing Alan Fox, who did an invaluable job as Independent Secretary?

4. NOT ANSWERED: It was said at the October meeting that new members for the board weren't required as the board members currently in place had all the skills needed. If that is the case what was the reason behind the decision to appoint Dixie McNeil to the board? Other than the appointment of Dixie McNeil, are the board still insistent that they have all the necessary skills needed?

5. PARTIALLY ANSWERED (But not directly) (Did not state if there was a thorough search or why Dixie was better suited than any other candidate): What exactly is Dixie McNeil's role as a board member and was there a thorough search to find someone that meets the skillset needed for the role? Why was Dixie McNeil selected over other suitable candidates?

6. NOT ANSWERED: Why was it stressed on multiple occasions that Dixie McNeil "headed up" the appointment of Dean Keates only for Dixie McNeil himself to outright deny it the day later?

7. NOT ANSWERED: Why wasn't there a single board member present at the unveiling of Dean Keates (the second time around)?

8. NOT ANSWERED: Why was it left for Dean Keates to announce that Bryan Flynn had left the club?

9. NOT ANSWERED: How quickly are members informed if somebody resigns from the WST board?

10. NOT ANSWERED: How many offers of help or assistance made to the board have been ignored or refused over the past two seasons?

11. NOT ANSWERED: If board members lose a vote to remain on the WST board, would they be removed from the club board? Could board members who weren't voted onto the WST board be co-opted on within a few years of their losing the vote? If this is the case, are you able to guarantee this will not happen in the future?

12. NOT ANSWERED: Do the board of the WST encourage heckling of people asking critical questions at meetings? If they don't, could we get a guarantee that if this occurs in the future, the chair of the meeting will remind fans that different viewpoints are valid and nobody should be shouted down for having an unpopular opinion?

13. NOT ANSWERED: Is there an investigation into who 'leaked' news such as Dean Keates's return, Tyler Reid and Omari Patrick's signings, and other confidential information?

14. NOT ANSWERED: Is the membership@wst.org.uk e-mail address currently being monitored? How long does it usually take for an e-mail sent to it to get a reply?

15. NOT ANSWERED: What measures are being taken to mitigate the effects of relegation if the worst happens and we go down?

16. NOT ANSWERED: Are any board members currently, or have they ever been, moderators of unofficial or official Wrexham fans forums? If they are, could you let us know how many established posters they've banned within the last year, and what reasons they gave for these bans?

17. NOT ANSWERED: Have any board members been present and active commenters on official or unofficial Wrexham fans forum within the last three years? If so, can you specify their reasons for doing so and the usernames that they use?

18. NOT ANSWERED: Have any board members had more than one account on any single official or unofficial Wrexham fans forum?

19. ANSWERED (But not directly): Are the board open to external investment and is it something that the board are actively pursuing?

20. NOT ANSWERED: Do board members support the right for current or former board members to have open and public criticisms, opinions and feelings about the running of football club?

Other:

1. ANSWERED (But not directly): Has the fee that the football club received from the sale of Danny Ward from Liverpool to Leicester been received in full?

2. NOT ANSWERED: It has been stated that either/both Wrexham AFC and the Wrexham Supporters Trust have in excess of £1,500,000.00 in reserve. Is this true?

3. NOT REALLY ANSWERED (No new update): It was stated that there would be an update about the Kop stand redevelopment in Autumn of 2019, there has been no update. Can the board provide an update?

4. NOT ANSWERED: When the second disabled viewing platform is eventually finished, will it comply fully with the resolution passed in 2018 by the vast majority of voting members?

5. NOT ANSWERED: Is the board open to the press and news media being as honest and critical as they wish with consequences or restricted access to the football club? Have there ever been any sanctions placed against news media outlets?

6. NOT ANSWERED: Why has there been security placed in the director's box during this season? At what cost was this to the football club?

7. NOT ANSWERED: What are your thoughts and feelings about a fan owned club having to deploy professional security in the director’s box?

8. NOT ANSWERED: Why was the Yale stand made all-ticket for the home fixture against Solihull Moors?

9. NOT ANSWERED: Why were season ticket holders restricted from swapping their tickets to another stand without prior warning for the home fixture against Solihull Moors?

10. NOT ANSWERED: Has the board and any other employee at the football club prevented supporters from buying tickets for the areas surrounding the director's box with the exception of the F.A. Cup fixture against Rochdale?

11. NOT ANSWERED: Why was the Y4 section of the Yale stand made unavailable for the F.A. Cup fixture against Rochdale?

12. NOT ANSWERED: What is the current status of the football club’s relationship with the Disabled Supporters Association?

13. NOT ANSWERED: Has the void left via the banishment of Disabled Supporters Association been filled with volunteers? If not, what are the additional staffing costs?

14. NOT ANSWERED: Why was the decision made that certain affiliate supporters groups, such as Wrexham Inclusion FC, had to become affiliated with the football club, agree to their rules and be governed by the board or else face the threat of legal action for the use of the clubs badge?

15. NOT ANSWERED: Was Carl Hogan allowed a vote on the decision to sack Bryan Hughes?

Additional Last Minute Questions that were sent in:

NOT ANSWERED: Are you satisfied that sufficient engagement has been sought with local business people – not as a source of income via sponsorship (as important as that is) but as a well of expertise and connections?

NOT ANSWERED: Do you feel that the official media team give their full and honest opinions?

I think it's a shame more of northwalian dragon's questions weren't answered when questions about netting, euro 2016 fan parks and faded seats were given credence.

Whilst I have always tried to take a balanced view of the board and dont doubt they have done some positive things off the field, I feel this has turned into another PR disaster and they may as well not have bothered.

Re: Q&A REVIEW | Your thoughts, was your question answered?

I’ve left a few people on here irritated at not taking part in the fire and brimstone. So I can claw some credit back by letting those people know that I submitted three questions that weren’t selected for the (six part!) cut. Question 1 was probably dealt with in a roundabout way, I’m not sure the other two were. They were as follows:

1. To me it appears that there hasn't been an overall football strategy at the club beyond giving a manager carte blanche to do what he likes within his budget, and sacking that manager when he is deemed to have underachieved. Does the appointment of Dixie McNeil create a position where someone looks to provide a structure above this? Does this role include responsibility for pathways from youth to first team, and maybe include a return of a reserve team?

2. While supporters cannot be privy to details of all negotiations, it is widely known amongst fans that the appointment of Graham Barrow came about after a failed attempt to appoint Dennis Lawrence led to Barrow's appointment as assistant before the Lawrence deal was closed (known so widely that Barrow addressed it in an interview after his departure from the club). Yet this has never been publicly acknowledged. Would the board accept that a) it has had difficulties keeping its information under wraps and b) that failure to even acknowledge the details we all know about has harmed the credibility of a club regime once defined by transparency? If so, what is being done to address these issues?

3. Does the board believe anything can be done to increase engagement with club processes, ie at AGM. We have recently seen a failed attempt at an EGM via an arm of the club's processes, but also only a minority of members taking part in AGM voting. This doesn't fit in with the level of discussion around the club which appears to involve rather more people. Is it even a club responsibility or is it seen as up to supporters to do more to get involved?

I’m inclined to believe that most of the answers given don’t have a smoking gun, and that those railing against them (such as in a recently started thread) just want to vent. But there’s definitely some evasion.

I feel sorry for NWD, he clearly put a lot of work Into this and has been badly let down by the boards refusal to answer. What if we all send an email en masse to the directors telling them how diapppinyed we are and we demand all questions are answered

I’ve emailed Carl Hogan directly to try and assess why certain questions were answered over others

I’ve had it confirmed that he was the first point of contact for the emails that were sent in by supporters.

I await further correspondence to the following email:
Hello Carl,

My apologies for misspelling your name.

I am not approaching the operational board with questions, I am asking you directly.

It is my understanding that you, as media team manager, were the first point of contact for the incoming emails for the recent Q&A. Therefore, it is very relevant that the below questions are addressed to yourself. It is very much within the remit of your position at the club to address supporters who have a concern that their voices, questions and concern are not being made known to the relevant people(s).

Please do answer the following questions:

Can you confirm whether all questions that were submitted for the Q&A were forwarded to the operation board or did you, in your role as media team manager, moderate and select which questions were submitted to board members?

Were any questions not submitted to the board to answer? If there were questions not put forward, how many?

Are there any of the 81 questions that I submitted, on behalf of myself and several other supporters, that you would like to answer yourself?

Regards,
From the two emails I exchanged with him it seems he was more interested in making sure I got the spelling of his name correct than addressing the concerns of the owners of the football club

Re: Q&A REVIEW | Your thoughts, was your question answered?

Firstly I have not read any of the questions or answers . The whole idea got completely out of hand and for NWD it has clearly annoyed him even more because the answers do not suit him. For me it is very simple . We appointed a trust, voted in a board to run it , and if members don't like the board they have to be voted out. I would then expect those who vote them out to step in and do all the work of those who had left . That IMHO would not happen. There are no signs of a well organised take over process so this current fuss about the way the club is run is only serving to give some keyboard warriors potential and unnecessary heart attacks.

Astonishing. Fck me, where do you start with this?
Hasn't read any of the questions and answers but decides to go on the attack against members based on ignorance. Listen to yourself, its embarrassing.

The second part in bold. LOL. That's not how it works is it. So in your dream world, by casting your vote for who should be on the trust board (I assume you do know we cannot vote for people to be on the club board, right, the people who answered these questions?) you are then putting yourself forward for election to the trust board? So going by previous voting numbers there'd be hundreds of fans on the WST board? :bulb:

I'd suggest you go away and educate yourself on the process, because your post above is just utter bollocks from start to finish. Your last sentence says more about you and your blinkered, brain washed view. A contender for the worst post of 2019 without doubt.

I would then expect those who vote them out to step in and do all the work of those who had left . That IMHO would not happen. There are no signs of a well organised take over process so this current fuss about the way the club is run is only serving to give some keyboard warriors potential and unnecessary heart attacks.
I think that the continued avoidance of a number of probing questions has annoyed NWD rather more than the answers to the comparatively few useful ones not suiting him!

Fss, do you think Chester supporters were whining about ‘keyboard warriors’ before their Trust nearly took them out of existence? Or were they sleepwalking into near-oblivion? For me, it’s imperative that that must NOT happen to us and therefore the board have to be held to account at times. This exercise has left me more concerned than I was a week ago because there are so many questions - some of which I asked myself via NWD - that were left unanswered.

Also do any elections work like this? When you cast your vote a week ago yesterday, were you ready to step up and take over from Boris Johnson?!

Re: Q&A REVIEW | Your thoughts, was your question answered?

My thoughts are we have lots of fans who do not understand the ownership model, and/or do not take an interest in the detail over the years. Why should they is another arguement :)

Saying that stuff like http://www.redpassion.co.uk/forums/wrexham/115072-wst-board-majority-vote-fire-hughes-club-board-not-involved.html does not help those who want to discover more and think processes and polices are in place.

I have posted on here about low turnouts several times, and much like those whinging about the General Election result, it is too simple to say those who did not vote are unhappy - they could be delighted how things are and therefore do not feel the need to engage.

The word 'mandate' was used in a few answers, and not in a romantic sense, and technically it is true in the context however for me much like the General Election it would be too simplistic to see the mandate from those who vote for you/your cause, when really representation needs to be of everyone and as inclusive as possible.

As for the Q&A exercise, I don't feel big walls of somewhat repetitive text is great, but is there more information out now than before it? Yes. Thats a good thing.

A bit like yourself but lets face it this interaction is what we expected when it became a fan owned club.

Maybe you or Method could give us an insight on why they didn't 'interact' with certain fans with certain questions then?

i seem to remember there was a choice on the ballot paper, if an alternative group put thier names forward to run the club maybe your point would be valid.

Yes, I've always wondered about the faded seats, why the Racecourse didn't host a Euro 2016 party and why the netting went up inside the ground. Now that I have these answers everything is ok and we'll be heading towards promotion before you know it. Thank the lord they addressed these burning issues that everyone was fretting about. PHEW.

They were submitted by fans. You complained that all the questions were not answered. But then complain about some that were answered.

I prefer to interact with both boards at members meetings or at the AGM but the idea of a Q and A is a good one.

So what?
Answering a question like why didn't they host a Euro 2016 party and then not answering any of Northwalian Dragons or Baggers far more pertinent questions tells you everything you need to know about these frauds.
Shouldn't have to explain this stuff.

Didn't answer the question.I agree the idea is a good one, shame that in practice it was a complete whitewash.

They are so predictable and cowardly.

Any fan that actually supports this sort of whitewash is also part of the problem.

Like or hate it. I think Red Passion is the biggest collection of Wrexham fans.

We may not all have the same view point but we certainly have the loudest voice. Why don't we collate a list of RP questions (say 40-50) . And put them to the club as one piece of work where everyone has full visability. That way every question has to be answered and they cant be cherry picked.

We can then put our collective weight behind this ensure they're all addressed. They may decide they can't answer them. But atleast they can't ignore them.

Already did start that up, two days later the board announced this Q&A and gave the fans less than 24 hours to submit questions in which they, or Carl Hogan, could choose which questions to answer. Like why can't we make the seats more red as opposed to why wasn't Manny Smith's new contract announced?

Apologies I didnt realise they were pooled questions. With so many threads its been hard to follow

I think we need to draft a generic email that we can all send individually to address why they were refused. We need to put our collective weight behind this to ensure every single one of NWD questions are answered.

That's the first questions we need answers for. It was either Karl Hogan moderating the questions and choosing which to send to the board or the board received them all and chose to answer which questions.

Give I've asked Carl the same three questions:
Can you confirm whether all questions that were submitted for the Q&A were forwarded to the operation board or did you, in your role as media team manager, moderate and select which questions were submitted to board members?

Were any questions not submitted to the board to answer? If there were questions not put forward, how many?

Are there any of the 81 questions that I submitted, on behalf of myself and several other supporters, that you would like to answer yourself?
He refused to answer the questions on three seperate occasions and escalated my emails to a member of the operational board

Not a problem mate, it's been quite cluttered on here the past few weeks. That's exactly what we're going to do now, just got one or two things to sort out and then we'll continue to press on to find answers

Whether it's Alex Hamilton, Geoff Moss or John Mills on the board, they should always be accountable for their decisions at our football club.

Fans chose to protest and moves were made to, in my opinion, quash any protests and prevent fans from having their own voice. Whether or not you agree with their opinions they are allowed to speak their mind in a constructive manner. These questions need answering and they will continue to be asked relentlessly

Could we do an open letter with all the questions at the bottom.

No more hiding behind emails, press releases and cherry picking favourable questions.
