Now that we're half way through the transfer window and no sign of activity I'm waiting for Keates to tell us that he's had a really good look at the squad during the past two weeks and believe we already have the quality needed to avoid relegation.

Let's face it, any player who is a) surplus to requirements at their current club, b) willing to join us in this time of crisis, and c) is affordable, are probably not the kind of players we need to make a difference. We're truly in the shit and the realisation is dawning that we're going to have to rely on our current lot to save us.

Reading Keates comments in the Leader yesterday about not accepting fight or desire had me in stiches. FFS he hasn't dropped Bobby Grant once and he has shown nothing but contempt with his on pitch performances. As for players having to play for contracts if you believe the rumours most of them want out at the end of the season anyway.

Yep

For me though the majority of the blame has to be on the board and Brian Hughes

I disagree in some way that's it is Hughes fault. At the end of the day he signed players that were really good on paper. He came in and what anyone says he was left with the same coaching staff on a part time basis, no real training ground and he brought in Flynn to support him. If the board had any sense they would say you need an assistant manager full time and given Flynn a job higher up.

Hughes tried his best and he wasnt good enough. The board give him a go and it failed. Keates on the other hand could have come back and made the big change that we all desperately want, he didnt, Darlo is still here, nothings changed, only thing that has changed is that the football on show is getting worse every game. If you ask yourself what is the worst we have played this season, it will be under keates!

Yup. Unless they are motivated — sex, money, peerage — it is now twitchy bum time. We are relying on there being 4 worse teams than us to survive.

Not great odds!

You don't need to worry PD, Vambo has told us that the club is (try not to laugh) 'in a better state than most clubs near the bottom of any league' which makes everything ok. Cheers Vambo, my mind is now at ease.
