2 poor sides of which we took our chances better, simple as that really our defence was all over the place at times especially Kennedy, thought Reid was OK especially second half but 3 points we need home wins with our away form.

Brought in were Summerfield, Hooper and Reid at right back - biggest surprise to me was Patrick being dropped to the bench.

No sign of Wright in the squad (assume still ill) and Tollitt nowhere to be seen.

Came out of the blocks fast - scored two early goals provided by Redmond and dispatched by Hooper.

Chorley looked the worst team to come to the Racecourse - very poor and there for the taking - hardly got out of their half BUT I felt after we went 2 - 0 up we eased off and gradually Chorley were allowed to get their foot back into the game and emerged stronger as the first half progressed.

A number of chances missed by Chorley and a poor intervention to concede a needless penalty just before half time could have proved costly - thankfully Holroyd's spot kick was poor and very weak allowing Lainton to save it to his right.

Second half we should have killed the game off - however, despite numerous chances to put the game out of sight we didn't see them off until Patrick came on, scored and could easily have had another two.

Some good attacking support play by Reid from the right back position who showed some good moves - but defensively was never under pressure.

Eventually saw the game out after Massanka scored a late consolation.

The Chorley centre back (6) Meppen - Walter was a cumbersome donkey and we could have turned him inside out if we had got the ball down on the floor and run at him more - but no use putting balls into the air with his height.

Lesson of the day - they are poor but if allowed to play and given time on the ball they can hurt us.

Attendance : 4,784 away support 224.

ref Tom Reeves who dished out yellows to Summerfield, Hooper and another needless one to Pearson.

3 massive vital points but another mention has got to go to old boy Danny Wright who scored a 95th minute equalizer for Solihull at Chesterfield - his goal could prove as vital as Hooper's brace.

All in all - 3 points, job done and it pulls us much closer to the pack above us especially free falling Dagenham & Torquay United who are dropping like a stone - both have to visit us - it's all to play for !

PS Rob Lainton needs to improve his kicking and keep the ball on the green thing - it's called a pitch.
Have to agree bold moves by Keates. When i saw that line up i thought we would loose.

Question now is do his stick minus Summerfield who by all accounts was awful or will he tinker with the line up / formation?

They need to start together upfront

About time redmond delivered which he did for 20 mins.
Hooper could just be the January signing up front we need.
Grant needs a goal and is clearly not a winger.
Would swap their centre half for our captain any day. Jennings again proving that he is not a left back.
Newby always busy and would like him alongside the tireless young.
Crowd so much better than the predictions from the doom and gloom merchants.
Will be out of the bottom 4 with a win Saturday fingers crossed.
Does Grant have a position? No matter where we play him it becomes obvious he can’t play there. If he can’t adapt in the game and keep himself relevant he’s no use to us.

With Wright missing Summerfield has virtually had a door opened for him to return to the team - perhaps the other surprise pre match was the inclusion of Redmond in place of Rutherford - never saw that one coming.

In fairness, for me Summerfield had a decent enough game and did a lot of good work - he was by no means awful. Some may say he faded as the game progressed but he remained on the pitch - it is my belief that some players appear more industrious than others due to the combination play between them and those nearest to them - for instance Redmond and Reid combined to make some good attacking moves down the right flank especially second half - Reid offers far more than Carrington going forward but we are yet to see if he can defend - he wasn't pressured today against a poor side in his first full match - but he too put in a good display.

Playing at RB for Wrexham gives you a decided advantage because everyone knows we have no LB so concentrate on attacking that flank.

It’s a fair question and to me it can only be 10. I thought he was a touch unlucky yesterday as he might have scored a cracker but for some fortuitous keeping and also for me deserved a penalty as he was clearly tripped by the same keeper.
