The performance smacks to me of something deeper wrong at the club. Maybe the players hate Keates and/or Darlo. That said when you have got players at Macc giving their all when their wages are late it is massively disrespectful of the fans and the shirt they wear not to give even 50% effort in a game.

A really sad state of affairs!
Said in another post that there is something seriously wrong with the squad and its been going on for a long time. That's going back to when we got tonked 3-0 last season by a side who didn't even warm up. Probably longer than that to when the whole Ricketts / Barrow mess occurred.

After yesterday I would look at docking some of the players there pay for that performance.

I've had time to reflect on Saturday. I have been going to games for over 30 years now and I am struggling to remember many games where the majority of the team showed no guts, endeavour or even bother to run.
Only Young and Lainton can really come out of that match with any credit.
Saturday was also the earliest I have left the Racecourse (we left on about 75 minutes) as it was clear nothing was going to change. I was almost tempted to leave at half time I was that disgusted with their performance.

I don't know whether it was apathy from the players, lack of direction from management...who knows?

But that display was beyond words. It will certainly make me think twice about stepping foot into the Racecourse again this season, if that is the standard being set.

What surprises me about Saturday is the lack of self respect the players themselves must have.

For a person to achieve the dream of many a youngster and become a professional footballer you would think that independent of any of their feelings for manager, coach or club, their own personal pride would make them want to put in a performance better than they did on Saturday.

For a player to just jog around the field of play like it was a training session like many did was a disgrace.

I watched Kennedy supposedly chase one of Aldershot forwards on one of their frequent attacks and despite being the wrong side of 60 I swear I could of left him standing. He moved at the speed of a player being substituted rather than one trying to get back to protect his goal. And he wasn't alone in displaying such a lack of effort. JJ Hooper wasn't interested in chasing anything that wasn't played directly to his feet.

There are players in that squad with ability, but their attitude stinks, and the sooner that smell is out of the club the better.

I think you are right - however have to question where it comes from.

Is confidence kicked out of the players before they start - the only outfield player showing any tempo, commitment and urgency was Young - I thought he was getting close to a red card as frustration was building and it was all down to him - nobody else seemed to put the effort in.

I suggest Hooper and Redmond are the type of players who will thrive in a team doing well and the donkey work is done by their team mates - but not the type of players you want alongside you in a relegation National League scrap.

For me Hooper wants it put on a plate for him - he wont chase and close down opponents - it was the same away at Chorley -compare this with the Aldershot players who harried us throughout, chasing and closing us down when we had the ball - particularly the excellent (20) Chislett.

Whether its down to individuals or the coaching staff who knows - but it's not working - makes you seriously question what goes on, on the training pitch all week as the players look like a bunch of strangers and don't appear a united 11.
