WST board minutes

I know this subject has been discussed many times before but nevertheless ....... The last board minutes published on the WST website were for the meeting held on 19th October. It is now February !!
Is it just a case of finding Alan Fox irreplaceable or have they given up on the idea of communicating with members??

The Only Way Is Up 1st February 2020 11.33:11

Re: WST board minutes

According to the WST website, the October meeting was held on 30/10/19

Minutes for the 27th November meeting should have been ratified at the December meeting and published soon afterwards, so they are now at least one month late appearing, assuming that those meetings were held at all.

Transparency and communications going well then, WST?

They're also pretty hard to find as the most recent minutes haven't been put in the 2019 folder. The website itself isn't great.

I would agree with that observation. The site does seem a bit hit and miss. Perhaps the WST could find a competent IT expert who is willing to give time for this important section of communication. Like the Secretary it is such a key role.

The club's website is also poor and frequently out of date.

The surprise is that anyone is surprised. I have said for some years now we are poorly run both on and off the field. There are some exceptions on the field and off but in an overall context the club is dysfunctional.

Anyone thinking otherwise is deluded, a member of the cult, their close associates friends, or simply lacking in brain cells.

Depressingly, we can complain as much as we like on RP or directly but nothing useful is going to change soon.

Seems like Spencer Harris does the bulk of it, Gavin Jones and John Mills do feck all, as seen by the accusations against one. Has nothing better to do!

In it for the wrong reasons.

Shadowing still isn't happening, which you'd think would help things.

Clearly not the case. Pete Jones has confirmed that a WST board meeting took place recently. We know a date was fixed for a November meeting. Assuming another meeting was held in December , that makes 3 further WST board meetings have taken place .....yet nothing on the WST website more recent than the October 19th meeting. Good enough communication with Members?

Not at all. I thought they had a few people involved and that sites were possibly outsourced. Posters should no use my input to have a go at others.

To be fair to you, I also assumed the WST site was outsourced; it certainly doesn’t look like someone experienced in IT plays any role in maintaining it!

Normal rules will apply to publication of monthly board meetings.

The October 30th minutes would have been approved or amended at the November meeting, and published soon afterwards.

The November meeting was due to be held on November 27th. Assuming that it took place on that date, the minutes would be considered at the December meeting, and approved if verified. If a December meeting was held (it would have been close to or even after Christmas in all probability) the November minutes should have been published soon afterwards though possibly not until January. I haven't seen any, so far, and I do look - often.

If a January 2020 meeting was held, it would probably been near the end of the month, which means that they wouldn't be approved before the February 2020 meeting - and there hasn't been one yet to the best of my knowledge anyway.

We can probably expect that there should have been November meeting minutes published either at the end of December or early in January IF a meeting took place in December, but I have no idea if that happened.

Back in November, when the last set of minutes on the WST site were for the August board meeting, I wrote to the Trust, and stated in the email:

One of the criticisms that would effect a rapid change of opinions among fans is transparency. There are so many examples of fans (owners!!!) being kept in the dark about the work you must all be doing to ensure positive change that I don’t need to list examples. Suffice it to say that I have had considerable experience of working for organisations that produce minutes of their meetings for members to understand what is happening. Never have I known any of them neglect to produce Board minutes for several months. Why are the Board’s most recent minutes on the website those for your August 2019 meeting? It is almost December now, and there should have been a further three Board meetings since August. Is it any wonder that fans worry about this lack of information? We are updated about a number of things which have no bearing on the playing results. Is this what you as a board now focus your attentions on? Have you really abdicated your responsibilities to provide fans with information about what is needed in order to achieve success on the pitch? I’m sure that many fans would be delighted to share their opinions on this.

It is probably a coincidence that the minutes of the September and October meetings appeared very soon afterwards.

Thank you for your efforts in trying to improve WST transparency. As members we still have a long way to go but reluctance at WST board level still exists. why I do not know.

This is why there is a feeling of a closed shop at the club wafc1926.

The current board need to be gone asap and replaced with fresh faces who want to really make a difference.

The sooner we can get the interaction between the board and owners/fans the better.

It's possibly time restraints because they have jobs to do and this is the problem with a football club being run on a shoestring with volunteers.

Dave, is there any valid reason why you can't ask him yourself? I'm sure that a positive post from you (there's a special thread here for those) giving his explanation would take some of the edge off those of your posts that seem designed to undermine everything done by the WTS team.

Same applies to others who find it easier to expect others to do all the work. Keep the spirit of fans ownership and fans contributing towards helping the club run more effectively.

Just a thought.

Warning for anyone googling minutes like I just did - the hack / browser hijack is still active on the old WST site that contains minutes from 2019 and earlier!!

From December:
Caution for using the old WST site!

Just looking back at some old results for the draw - the archived Joomla site for the WST appears to have an injection attack that kills the site on mobile and spams ads (the old archived site, not the new one) that can take over phone browser.

It also appears to have been hacked for link injection too:

The official site got hacked a few months ago too, something that was made out to be a minor thing but in the end saw several thousand pages auto published.

Edit: It seems the /www3/ site is running Joomla 2.5.28 which saw 'end of life' December 31st, 2014.
Some interesting bits from Nov / Dec:
The Board considered whether it will propose a resolution to amend the rules for calling an EGM. It is suggested that individuals calling for an EGM need to do so within a certain period, eg 30 days, and the names of people supporting the EGM be sent to the Independent Secretary. This will protect members’ information and the integrity of future on-line voting.

9. Any other Business
Board member mentioned the unacceptable level of abuse to board members and their family.
Two external files referenced in the minutes, but do not appear public / linked?
Groves Training Ground
• Heads of Terms (DRAFT) received from Council
• Will require approval from Trust
December:

20191218Operational BoardReport.docx another external document, unlinked / not public.
new advert in local magazine. 13,000 people in Wrexham approximately should receive magazine in January which advertises the benefits of membership.
What mag is that? Has circulation what, 3 or 4 times the leader?
Discussion relating to potential working group to consider draft resolutions prior to the AGM, such a group potentially including a representative from the EGM ‘group’. Group would require independent chair.
with note "process set out in constitution needs to be tightened up in terms of calling EGM"
Footfall at Ty Pawb was disappointing over Christmas.
Interesting docs, but would be more interesting if the several external documents were also uploaded / public as comments on their contents noted but not the contents. "text_2019-12-16.pdf" "WSTCommercialrepo rt-Dec.pptx" dont tell much in filenames.

Interesting indeed Rob, but useless where the content can't be read by the members. Typical of some current Board members' attitude towards "TRANSPARENCY" and "COMMUNICATION."

This is currently being addressed in correspondence.
