Unfortunately the maths doesn't add up unless they deny a team promotion from one of the leagues below, or Bury enters the National League. I'm 99% sure it'll be 3 down to compensate, as this has been the trend in recent years when a team has been expelled

The issue, I think, is whether the original Bury FC are re-instated or a new Phoenix club gets accepted instead. A Phoenic Club would get the Chester treatment and start at level 7 or 8, resulting in 1 down from L2 and 3 down from our league. It would be the same effect if the original Bury FC were re-instated below our level. Of course, if the EFL decide to re-instate Bury FC as an L2 team and give them a massive point deduction for non completion of games, effectively relegating them from L2, they will join our league as the 2nd team from L2 and 4 would go down from our league.

The phoenix Bury applied to join the North West counties league in December
