Default rotary club

as the board of our great club seem to be focused on doing good things for other projects, except the main one ie the football side of things. then the best option for them when they jump ship is why not join the rotary club, they can still be in the limelight, and pat each other on the back and still have the feel good factor. on another note there has been alot of fuss about nwd 81 questions which were not all his but hes been approached to go and meet the board to discuss them, when he asked them would it be ok to record the meeting they have now shut up shop. and they say the masons are secretive

It would be good to have some form of record of any meeting.

Extract from Rob Stock's reply last Thursday to my point that not all members can attend meetings and that a Skype or Line Conference-Call which members can dial into would help with their communications and allow video/audio contributions to be made.

Rob wrote: "I completely agree with you that communication needs improving in many areas. I agree it should be explored if meetings could feature some type of Line conference call or the meeting being filmed and having the option of emailing questions in. I appreciate it must be difficult for exiled fans to attend such meetings and I will bring this up for discussion with the board."

Why bring Rotary into this?

I’m a Rotarian and I can assure you that nobody joins “to be in the limelight and to be able to pat each other on the back”. Rotary clubs exist to raise money for charitable causes and raise thousands of pounds every year.
Their motto is “Service above self”.
I’m no fan of the board and they fully deserve most of the flack that they get but your description of why people join Rotary shows a total lack of knowledge about what they do.
I suggest you get off your arse, get off the laptop and get down to your local club to see what they do. They certainly aren’t a secretive organisation either.

Great response although I think I would change "most" to "a lot of".

Well said how anyone can criticise Rotarians is beyond me- most do extra work for the good of the community secretively beyond the call of duty and do not require any form of recognition

Transparency is the golden ticket in any enlightened organisation. It creates excellent engagement with any fan or customer base for any business. When the power brokers behind any business, company or organisation fear transparency it is because they feel they need to conceal. Integrity then becomes compromised and essentially everything starts unravelling.

Though it is a very poor and ill thought out analogy to have mentioned the Rotary club in such a dismissive and damaging way.

I also find it incredibly upsetting to have black labelled the charitable work of all the Rotarians I have known over the years in Wrexham and in NZ.

Perhaps you have some specific reason for feeling that way, but it does not seem ideal to share such hurtful words about an essentially good hearted organisation with a world wide network on a public forum.
