Re: The fixtures ahead
I don't follow them closely other than what our football lads say and Artell has certainly won the faithful over with his young team the football they are playing. So far they seem to be resisting the temptation to sell their best youngsters, but I expect that is short lived as to fund the academy it is believed they need to generate £1m per season in player sales to break even. Crewe and Dario G had the foresight to set up their academy to punch with the big boys where our ambitions stopped short with a CoE and although their fans have to be patient it has proved highly successful. The problem is keeping it in the changing times.

All three teams lost on Saturday, including Bromley Next up is Yeovil who now have zero wins in goodness knows how many matches!!! Then Eastleigh who are having a torrid time. The above teams together now have ONE win in Eighteen matches. What a stroke of luck to have these three at this time as The Town climb to relative safety. I am sure the management are using this post as motivation for the players. If not they should be ---- |

The manager before Keates, whose squad he inherited and was stuck with crap players on two year deals.

Re: The fixtures ahead
Keates is quite an emotive figure for me. A really good player, but can’t really get excited about his dire, negative tactics football. He hasn’t quite grasped that the word entertainment fits in somewhere. I do tend to laugh at those who dislike him, because he dared to leave us. It was a financial thing, and sadly, that’s what makes the world go round.
Can we like or respect Keates again? I remember most feeling confused or annoyed when Gary Bennett signed for us. A Chester hero for some. He had a monkey on his back for a few games, but when he started scoring, he achieved cult status. It can be done. Like it or not, the ONLY thing we must achieve now, is avoiding relegation. As for a manager for next year, it depends what league we end up in. If we stay up, I would love to see Spencer get the cheque book out and attract someone qualified for the job. A healthy bank balance seems futile if we are struggling in the league. We could go down - I would rather not dwell on that. |

I notice you stop short of pointing the finger of blame at the real culprits for this mess, the club board. Can't think why? |

Keates took us to rock bottom, he had zero impact when he came in and actually made the situation worse. And is now just about keeping us out of the relegation zone by a huge two points after throwing a load of money at it in January. And even now we're woefully short in defence so the squad is a few injuries away from being thrown into crisis again. If a centre back gets injured, Pearson in particular, we're screwed. We have one fit left back and a young CB playing out of position at RB. We're still deep in the mire but the WST sponsored propaganda has started already with elections due in the summer. The desperation to make Keates out to be some sort of inspired appointment who is 'taking the club forward' is frankly quite laughable and utterly flawed. |

Re: The fixtures ahead
Anyone who is OK with them isn't a real fan of the football club and should ask themselves why they support individuals over the good of the club. This is a question you'll undoubtedly duck.
I expect it from you because you've been brainwashed and you are dangerously deluded. I put you in the same category as head cases like paddockgraham. |
