Maybe £50/75k on top of what Hughes was paid with the other £150/125k going to the transfer budget would have seen us get someone capable in the manager's seat so we don't have to keep bringing in so many new players.

The most important job at the club and more often than not we seem to take the easy or cheaper option and it doesn't get us anywhere.
Spot on,

Spencer needs to read this, then take his head out of his lazy ass and look to bring in a more experienced, more competent manager by paying the going rate.

But no decent, self respecting manager would want to work under Spencer and his gang and have Darlington imposed on him.

Keates has no principles, is prepared to put up with them and that’s why he got the job.

Yup.

I also expect the willingness to 'put up' was a reason that Hughes appeared here; like the shopkeeper from Mr Benn (but less useful).

It can't be a coincidence that the number of managerial applicants we get has dramatically reduced of late, word gets around. It could of course be because of those pesky fans and their devilish Red Passion though. Bastards the lot of us.

The team is like a patchwork quilt. A hole appears so patch it up. The club is being run on a hadhok basis..
Being run like this will eventually fail..

I firmly believe we couldn't attract a decent manager even if we threw money at them

The number of applicants has dropped and dropped each time

The quality of applicants has rapidly dropped. Barrow said he'd take the job because he thought he could do a better job than any of the applicants. Then we had Bryan Hughes. Now we have a bloke who has only ever had 4 months of decent results, a snake and a coward that'll change his team on the advice of the board to try and keep his job

Pete Jones used that one last season in relation to players not wanting to sign for us. Those players that wait around to be signed a week before the season starts.

They take us for mugs.
