Subject to confirmation I believe these were the players that made the Wrexham team.

Billy Waters
Fred Davis
Alan Fox
Bill Green
Aly McGowan
Gren Jones
Ron Hewitt
Peter Thompson
John Anderson
Dave Jones
Albert Parker

Not sure about subs or positions but that should be the starting eleven.

Any other suggestions ?

Manchester United team for that match.

Ray Wood
Bill Foulkes

Eddie Coleman - Munich fatality
Mark Jones - Munich fatality
Duncan Edwards - Munich fatality
Johnny Berry
Billy Whelan ( x 2) - Munich fatality
Tommy Taylor (x 2) - Munich fatality

Goalscorers shown in brackets.
7 of that team as indicated were later to die in the Munich air disaster.

Johnny Berry survived the 1958 Munich air disaster, but his career as a footballer did not. The injuries he received in the crash, four months before his 32nd birthday, consigned to memory his nimble play on Manchester United's right flank as a seasoned professional in a team of prodigious fledglings. (Extract from his obituary in The Guardian 23 Sept 1994. Died16 Sept)

Really worthy of a watch is a documentary about the disaster including a prolonged interview with one of the survivors Sir Bobby Charlton - a broken man who showed extreme dignity and humility repeatedly questioning why he survived and so many others perished - I think it must haunt him to this day.
Sir Matt Busby survived but was in hospital for some time afterwards on the touch and go list.
Haunting to think those players were playing against Wrexham infront of such a big crowd for us and didn't know what was soon to follow.
Duncan Edwards was extremely highly rated - a future superstar of the game, if only ?
