Default Club Communication!!!!!

I don't think that the following WST Communications Update has appeared on here since it was published on the WST website on 23 February. I've picked out two bits in red:

It has been discussed and identified that communications to our members requires addressing and this is the start of the process. For the first communication we have decided to focus on what the community sub-group has been working on over the last month.

Unfortunately our fixture with Torquay United was postponed due to the weather. The fixture was to be our designated Football v Homophobia awareness game which will continue to be the case for the rearranged fixture. It is part of a campaign in which the WST and Wrexham football club are looking to highlight football is a game for everyone to participate in and enjoy which includes a link up with the Racecourse Community Foundation (RCF). The RCF will be delivering workshops in local schools aimed at promoting inclusivity and diversity over the coming 12 months to ensure the message highlighted at one game is not forgotten and continues to be promoted.

The RCF have also held soccer schools over the recent holidays which included a further autism friendly session within the week. The RCF are also hosting an over 40’s walking football session at the Glyndwr University sports centre on Tuesday 25th February 11am-12pm should members wish to participate.

The Junior Dragons held their half term bowling bash at Tenpin Wrexham which was well attended and enjoyed by all including some of the first team players.

We have been delighted to welcome a number of local youth football teams to the Racecourse as ball boys and girls this season. Most recently, Chirk Youth Under 13’s did a great job for the Dagenham game in extremely difficult weather conditions! Thank you to all the teams who have provided ball boys and girls so far this season.

WST are delighted to have collaborated with Nightingale House Hospice to host their 25th anniversary walk and party. The event will be run by Nightingale House and will involve 5km walk to raise funds for their charity followed by a party on the pitch with live music, DJ’s and games. Hopefully there will be a great turn out for the fundraising event and tickets are available from Nightingale House should any members wish to get involved.

This is the first of the proposed communications and we appreciate members and supporters will feel there are different issues which require communicating more urgently. We are keen to hear from members to help shape how you wish these communications to be used in the future and their purpose. Whilst today’s communication has mainly been used to inform members of what the community group is carrying out on your behalf we to keen to listen and adapt accordingly.

If you have any suggestions regarding the communication process moving forward please contact Steve Lloyd at Stephen.lloyd@wst.org.uk or Robert Stock at Rob.stock@wst.org.uk with your suggestions and observations.

Sadly, this shows that although the Board has listened to criticism about communications, it has (again) chosen to go its own way, and not respond to the basic need we have to be told exactly what the Board is doing to get us out of the mire that we're in - we know what is needed, but they ignore that time and time again - even though it is the most important aspect of running a Club!
