Virtual Coronatickets if matches are not public?
EXCLUSIVE: All football matches in England will be played behind closed doors under government plans to combat #coronavirus that could be triggered as early as today. Full details from @mhardysport Games to be played behind closed doors as part of coronavirus crisis plan All football matches in England will be played behind closed doors under government plans to combat coronavirus that could be triggered as early as today.A meeting of the government’s Cobra committee In a #coronavirus crisis plan being unveiled for football, we can reveal: • The season will not be postponed and instead matches in the Premier League and lower divisions will be moved behind closed doors > • Premier League season-ticket holders and ticket holders will be able to stream coverage of matches • No games will be shown in pubs so as to avoid congregation of people • Premier League games will not be shown live in the 3pm slot on Saturday afternoons Obviously it remains to be see if the above is enacted today, later or not at all. If it does happen the lack of cash flow could hit the club, so could it be worth looking at some kind of virtual solidarity 'ticket' to help bridge the gap? Overheads could be reduced with no fans, however I can't see anything but a negative impact. |

Re: Virtual Coronatickets if matches are not public?
The thing I haven't yet really understand about this kind of strategy is though it is obviously a very serious issue and needs serious thought, where will these thousands of people go, if they are not attending football matches, unless they are forced to spend their time at home in solitary confinement.
Am just thinking that this strategy can only work if people don't have any contact with anyone at anytime and maintain social distancing. If everyone still goes out to cafes and shopping malls and all that stuff it makes no difference. Unless they adopt a complete lockdown like in Italy.

What I dont get about this whole thing is many many more died of flu virus in the uk 2019.
China appear to have now peaked so that would suggest the virus is self limiting. Yet again in typical British fashion we have meetings about meetings about meetings before having a meeting to decide what options are available should they be required. Then another meeting to see if said options should be put in place. By which time, its either too late and we are all doomed as the media seem to saturate our airwaves with or the virus dies out. Either way, there will be a meeting to debrief how brilliantly it was dealt with. |

Can't help thinking that this virus wouldn't even be hitting a small section of page 7 in the papers if it was the 80's or 90's.
On average, 17,000 people have died of flu in the UK every year since 2014 and there's a vaccine. Not an eyelid batted and I could buy my 9 pack of toilet roll every week without a fight This virus has been driven by social media. The world has truly gone mad. There are probably dozens of these viruses flying around every year which we've never even got to hear about but result in deaths related to respiratory failure in the elderly. The panic buying of toilet roll tells you everything you need to know about how social media is driving our world and it's not for the better. Starting to think that life was better when we had less in the 20th century |

The financial implications of this for lower league clubs, particularly at our level, would be significant. Not sure why there couldn't be a break for a few weeks instead.
As Welsh Kiwi says, there seems little point to this approach unless a general shut down is in place. |

As you say social distancing appears to be the key. Either way, it seems this could come in and as a club we will be hit in the pocket, and perhaps as a fanbase we can be creative and ahead of the game in sorting a Plan B. |

I agree the world has gone utterly crazy, a self fulfilling prophecy of global economic recession. The data explains who the vulnerable are, surely that’s where the focus needs to be. |
