I bet the teams who could still make the play offs mathematically would disagree with the season finishing as it stands. Same with relegation places.

If this goes on for months then perhaps points per game will be used to finalise the season rolled up to number of full season games. It won’t please all teams, but to void the system would be even more unfair.

Depending on how long this shut down goes on far I think this is the only realistic solution. No way can you thwart the ambition of clubs such as Liverpool or Barrow without forever damaging the integrity of the game. Who would ever trust governing bodies again if a season's work could be undone by outside events?

I think whenever football starts again it should be this seasons fixtures to be played out to be fair to all.

I bet no one on here would want the season wiped out if we were in Barrowsposition

What about, The season stops now and then restarts in say August, every club stars it with the points they have now, but play 23 home 23 away, no relegation or promotion until next season is finished.

Not sure if PFA covers non-league, think its just concerned with Prem, EFL and WSA. Hope I’m wrong

Unworkable and unfair. All teams have the points they've scored because of who they have played, and not all teams have played each other home and away - obviously. We managed 6 points against Chorley, but Barrow managed 0 against us. Had that been the other way around, and our position in the NL depended on us securing 3 points - either in April or at the end of next season, it would be unfair on all other teams too.

No. The only solution is to complete this season's program at some point, with promotion and relegation as usual. After a short break - maybe only two weeks, just to allow managers a chance to transfer players in and out (how many doesn't matter, as it would be the same situation for every manager) and then launch the next season as per.

Players etc would still receive their break from the game, now as well as the two weeks mentioned above, and again it would be the same for all. Contracts would be extended until each team has played its 23 games (plus playoffs and cups) and those with contracts extending beyond this season would simply continue with them until the new season reaches the same position as their original release dates, be that after x number of games, or some other agreed term. There might be a complication where some teams pay players and managers only to the end of the season, while others pay over 12 months, but I'm sure that wouldn't be insurmountable.

Or we could all just stop speculating, see what happens over the next few weeks, and address the subject again when there is some clarity about virus restrictions.
