Uefa are dreaming re playing a champions league final at the end of august. Who actually plays - players who should have left at the end of June, players not currently signed yet, players who've started a new season with someone else but were registered for this years competition.

Burton have said behind closed doors games will kill them. The premierships money and negligible tv income won't be enough. Many others are in the same boat.

The employment lawyers and the government are yet to decide if a furloughed employee, e.g. a player, is entitled to their pay after their contract expires.

For years too many clubs have way exceeded their income paying stupid wages. Reading's budget was to spend £1-50 of every £1 income on players chasing the premiership dream. Totally unsustainable. Now this disaster has struck they all want to be bailed out. The world has higher priorities now than helping over paid (higher leagues) footballers.

The football world will lose clubs, racing will lose tracks, cricket will lose counties. Compare that to 200,000+ that have died so far with many more deaths sadly to come. Clubs can reform, tracks reopen etc. Sadly human reincarnation doesn't exist.

So what if Barrow go up, Jersey and South Liverpool don't. It's pretty much irrelevant. I've loved football all my life but I'm fed up hearing endless football people, speaking as if Bill Shankley's football is more serious than life or death comment is true. Sorry it's not.

I used to spend all week waiting to go to the racecourse or travel to an away game wherever it may be. However for those of us who have loved ones working in the Maelor, I now just can't wait for them coming home safe each day. The world has changed. Hopefully one day life will return to what we used to know.

Worrying about another garbage Keates lead performance or more WST waffle now appears so irrelevant. Hopefully by August or September we'll all just be able to moan about another duff signing.

Keep safe .
Good post.
I made a few comments on the "off topic" site regarding Coronavirus from an Aussie perspective. I cant see football in UK starting until 21/22 season with way fewer teams than we have now...and Wrexham could even kick off in Football League (if we survive).

After 40 years supporting Wrexham, I never thought I'd say this but I could hardly care less about league positions

People are dying right now and it will be by the grace of God that you and your families survive intact.

Overpaid people kicking a bag of wind around is kind of not even on the agenda........if it is, you need to give your head the biggest wobble it's ever had
Really irks me these types of comments.

Obviously EVERYONE is worried about this, how couldn't you be, most people are taking the necessary precautions to stay indoors and if sadly people you know or yourself fall ill then you worry about that.

But if you're fine and your family is fine then you're just sat indoors so what's there to think or talk about? Football for quite a lot of people, it's a lot of people's passion, and it doesn't just go away because a lockdown is on.

So forgive me and others if, when we're not worrying about the pandemic, we're worrying about a club and a sport that plays a big role in all our lives and we come on to a football forum to discuss it.

It still interests me who goes up and down in our league, I'm not just sat here twiddling my thumbs waiting for the virus to kill us all.

So please save us from your holier than thou attitude towards people who still take an interest in it when there's not much else to do.

Totally agree. I’m a bit fed up too of the virtue signalling pandemic puritanism that’s around. Some people just want us to sit in the dark whilst scrubbing a solitary carrot and coming out for a hand clap at 8pm on a Thursday night.

I stand by every word.

This is the biggest crisis to hit this planet not just in our lifetimes but in centuries but some people seem more bothered about where football clubs finish in a league. Just mind blowing.

Just end the season now. No up, no down, no play off's, no nonsense games behind closed doors putting players and backroom staff at risk because SKY & BT won't pay up. The season wasn't complete, no one has won anything so unfortunately it's just tough tits.

We need to scrap the season, stop the ridiculous voting and conjecture and concentrate on what's really important which is your families and your finances in that order.

When it is deemed safe to do so (when a vaccine is available) we start a new season.

At least then we can all concentrate on the game we love without wondering whether we are risking people's lives to watch a football match

No one is saying you should sit around waiting for the virus to kill you, there are things people can do to fill their time. Look at the old boy walking around his garden raising ££22m for charity or would he have been better off worrying about whether Liverpool will win the title or whether Barrow get promoted ?

Just sayin

Great post that.

There are plenty of opportunities to discuss the rights and wrongs of footy talk v pandemic in the off-topic thread.........

This is very serious, but we have got through worse: the Black Death; the great plague of 1665; WWI; the Spanish Flu; WWII; Chesterfield beating us in the FA Cup Qtr Final; even ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here!’

I think there is scope to think of both COVID-19 and Wrexham AFC without losing too much perspective.

Anyway, the thought of Foxy polishing his root vegetable and then having to go to the NHS to cure his clap is rather off-putting.

A sense of humour in these trying times helps raise spirits.

Don’t think many on here would want to scrap the season if Wrexham where in Barrows position.
