This article is behind a pay wall (and I'm too tight to pay it) but does anyone have a subscription with The Athletic? Devote talking about his depression after being released from United. He's very close to losing his career as a pro footballer I'd imagine.

Devonte is the name mate , I cant read either but wish him well , depression is a real serious condition , and needs a lot of care and understanding .

He is contracted for another season I think.

My phone prefers the name 'Devote' for some reason.

You're spot on about depression, and Professional football is a very unforgiving career, not much room to take the time you need to deal with your issues I'd imagine. Being released by a big club and seeing your team mates thriving at the highest level must be hard to deal with, depending on your mindset. Very sad.

Explains why he plays like he does then if he has a mental health issue. I hope he gets better but we really cant he carrying passengers in our predicament

There is a good footballer in there if he can regain some confidence. Hope he gets the necessary help to get him out of the rut.

theres 2 ways you can go, accept that you wernt kept on and fight like hell to get back to where you think you should be, or feel sorry for yourself and give in to what people say along the lines of cant believe they let you go , your miles better than so an so,to think hes been let go by MU, and no league club came and had a look, guess thats why he was let go
