Default Carl Darlington

Is he bomb proof due to this?

We need to reduce spend by £15k per month. The slide shows ways of doing this. Even with the 11 suggested actions on the slide there was a £50k gap. GJ said that there could be a way of securing a contribution from the FA Wales Trust to CD’s costs. The meeting discussed reducing other football costs.

Urgent clarification needed on this!

Why? It is ancient history, apart from which it is a speculative comment "there could be a way" and not there IS a way. Note also that the reference was "a contribution to CD's "costs" " and not necessarily paying towards his salary. The meeting was about exploring ways to reduce expenditure and increase revenue. It is apparent from last year's accounts that ways were found to ensure that we are still here.

Is what happened in 2016 going to change the amount that is in the combined bank accounts today?

Although questions have been asked very recently about any ways that the Board members explored solutions to the 2016 cash-flow deficit, the October 2016 Minutes demonstrate that extensive work had been done by them in order to remedy matters. The financial minds behind the options deserve credit for that not insults along the lines of them all being useless.

From looking from the outside in, it seems to many Darlington is 'forced' upon people. Don't forget Ricketts didnt want him anymore and who of the two remained?

We've also had a plethora of managers suggested through leaks, interviewed or managed here, from the FAW coaching school.

Regardless of if it says costs it isn't beyond the possibility he is being kept on as some of his costs are being subsidised by the the FAW Trust and is seeing graduates getting jobs at the club. Keates is one such graduate, I believe Dennis Lawrence another. I'd also be interested to know where Hughes got his badges from.

If Darlington is not being held to account due to being subsidised, that's a dangerous position to be in. Even more so if forced on to people, they're must be a reason(s) for the huge drop off of candidatesputting their name in the ring when a manager vacancy arises. Nobody should not be held to account, nothing should be hidden and no way should better candidates miss out in such a manner. If the above is correct hence the need for urgent clarification, it's cost the club way more than saved.

To answer your question, yes if we've got a subsidised part time coach.

What else has been hidden?

Everything makes alot more sense when you put it like that. Thing is, its not even Darlington's fault. If you were him you would stay put.

It's a decision made by you know who that inhibits the ability to find a decent Manager greatly , you could say a closed shop of possible new talent out there just because . As proven by the last few incumbents .

If we had someone else subsidising wages, then that is outside investment. No matter how small.

His title is 'First Team Coach' but my view has always been that he's supposed to bring some continuity when a manager changes over to keep things in order.

There is most certainly an agenda here to keep in FAW good books. This also explains why we are hiring managers from coaching courses.

A big concern for me is that he was very important in the hiring of Ricketts (Listen to Tudor-Jones podcast with Ricketts if you haven't already) but there seems to be a strong suggestion that Ricketts wanted him out. Why was this? What things did Ricketts have issue with? Does Darlington have sessions with the squad himself?

But they didn't have a mandate...

Lord Darlington does one session a week with players we're told.

An invaluable experience for every player, can you imagine getting the chance to tap into his extensive knowledge and football genius?

I bet the players can't sleep the night before the session, like a kid who is going on holiday the next day.
