Default Past local players who would probably beat the current team

As we cannot look forward at the moment, I thought it would be nice to look at local footballers who possibly could have made it on skill, but for some reason were overlooked, or because their lifestyle did not suit professional football.
I have picked a team of people I played with, except one who I could not leave out (W C)
Andy Roberts

Phil Lloyd John Parry Kenny Baker Colin Griffiths

Chris Marsden Wilf Cartwright Malcolm Parry Johnny White

Ady Williams Ted Turner

Also I have picked a team who were shall we say "no angels"

Ronnie Massey

Alan (Sammy) Jones Billy Blower Big Jack (Bala) Maxie Jones

Ken Jones (Llan) Mansion and Custards (Rhostyllen)

Alec Lucas Johnny Millward Keirion Cooke

I am sure there will be many more names thrown into the ring,a few of the angels could have made a living in the ring.

Lets have some names and possibly a best team could be assembled.

My memory is fading a bit but this team was pretty good. Phil Griffiths. Tony Edwards. Ken Swinnerton. Gareth Powell. Glyn Davies. Kevin Davies. Paul Phillips. Ron Roden. Aly Jones. Peter Boaz. Keith Francis.
Will put my second team a bit later. Probably as good as or better than the first. This was 60's / 70's.

Did Ricky Evans ever play above WPL level?

from the lads i know who have played against him, i believe he was technically a much better player than Steve

also see he was recently banged up for stealing Farm Machinery!

there was also Paul Mazzarella, who i believe plays for Chirk Vets currently

On the books at Wrexham as a youth but played majority of his career at CQN

Ricky played for a couple of clubs at WPL, Welshpool being the last I can remember. I do recall him coming into the pub and goading Steve that he was earning more money than him when Steve was playing for Wrexham! Memory fades me who he was playing for at the time. Played with their dad 'Mushy' when I first started, great player himself too.
There's been a load of decent players I've played with but not sure whether some count as they've been ex-pros as in Alan Hill and Steve Buxton at Tetra Pak, Terry Cooke and Paul Fisher (Dinky) for the Black Horse Summerhill, Chris Armstrong at LLay welfare to name some off the top of my head. I'll have to have a think about ones I've played with that didn't make it to pro though Ricky would be up there.
As for 'Angels' I'd just say The Cymau team I played in, Ray Jones, Barney, Nutty et al, good fun like but absolutely mental!!

Sorry Iesty mis read your post were it said 'above' WPL, nah he never played above it, the last league club he was at was Oldham when he got the sack for nicking some of the players boots and selling them!
