My experience of Don was he was like a politician. Never gave me a straight answer or barely an answer at all on the bubble fiasco he indulged and eventually when I pressed him for some proper answers he simply passed the buck and gave me a list of email addresses. None of those bothered to reply, from memory included Safety officer and other local authorities'/persons involved.

The club never pulled up any trees with Don at the helm and he was part of the clique that's led us to where we are today.

No thanks.

My memory of the Bircham era was the persistent grumbles from players on low wages. Brought to a head by the spat between Bircham and Danny Wright.

Always got the perception he was very frugal, and maybe a bit too much for his own good; hence why he was happy for the bubble to continue if it kept costs down.

He was what we needed to stabilise, but maybe not to take us forward.

But then again, it's not like his replacements managed that either.

Would be good to see him more involved, but not necessarily running the show. If only to bring back those steak and chilli Village Bakery pies he pushed.

Isn't this what happens on here though , continually going back to a former player who they think would do a job . New blood is needed a fresh approach , ideas , and new plan .

Nothing wrong with a touch of scottish frugality. Having lived there for a couple of years I too now heat the butter knife when I have guests for dinner.

Yes Danny Wright was a massive loss, I’ve always wondered who the heck allowed Obeng and Fowler to leave in that January transfer window when we were top?
but yes, the pies would swing it for me

Because this is real life and not football manager. One had clearly downed tools and was going to be disruptive. you could argue just to drop him and not play him but I think he'd have caused havoc. Obeng had the chance to go to the premier league.

selling Fowler to our rivals was just plain stupid, and not being able to negotiate a deal till end of season for obeng similar.
but just my opinion on a fans forum chat

We had the chance to reject the transfer of obeng though... We missed out on promotion following a small (tiny) form slump after he went by 5 points...fowler and obeng on the team the whole season and I suspect that we would have picked up those 6 extra points needed
