I think it would be a good fix for a couple of years. Having seen the teams in the "north" though, we would struggle to even stay up I think, certainly wouldn't be the big fish.

Re: Radical new plans to merge League two and the National League.
Economically for club survival (Bury gone, Macclesfield and others in a poor state) this should have been done years ago.
Said it before and saying it again - for us to be playing clubs like Dover Athletic and Eastleigh who are virtually in France with overnight hotel stops and great travelling expense is quite frankly ridiculous. When football eventually does return, clubs will need every helping hand they can find. More derby matches, massive reduction in travel time and fuel costs - no hotel stops - more money for supporters to spend at the match instead of at the pumps. Not sure what format it could take - the above post is a good option - below the Championship then a decent combination of L1 & L2 clubs - followed by the National League split and joined by clubs from the North & South. It might not be ideal and frowned on by some - same as the argument to have an artificial pitch to rake in alternative revenue every day of the week but the powers that be need to grow business heads and very fast - the alternative option and remaining as we are will lead to many clubs collapsing. Having said that does anyone realistically think such a massive overhaul of the league structure will happen ? No pre season, no season ticket sales, no fixtures for next season (will there be one ?) player contracts coming to an end next month, will anyone go out and sign new players not knowing that there will be any football any time soon (or later ?) Football is in a big mess along with many others aspects of current life. |

The gap in quality between league one and two is too big imo
