Keep DKD and Carrington. Hooper obviously has ability but we can’t carry people like him on an inevitably reduced budget. Potentially try and sign Kennedy as a third choice.

The rest stink.

Third choice? He’s the best centre back at the club.
We have badly lacked a leader on the pitch this season. Not sure whats happened to Pearson but he hasn't cut it this season. Again i don't know if Harris will be leadership material when the season eventually starts but we need someone who can get the players fired up to go. Way too many times this season there has been no fire or passion in the squad.
Completely agree. The only thing going for Pearson is reputation, possibly in his decline?

I don’t think any of our players are leaders, necessity brings opportunity and no one stepped up to be counted.
Ultimately comes down to the manager to motivate players. Keates can't do that. Dire performances like Aldershot at home he just stood there motionless
I somewhat agree, however I also think you give them the tools to do the job 4 times a week in training, saturday is when they should be putting it all together themselves. Personally I’m fine with managers not getting out of the dugout all game.

We need someone in the mould of Roy Keane, a proper captain where players won’t dare step out of line around him. Even Keates as a player, a proper captain.

Pearson is a leader on the field and this is why he’s captain. He leads by example on and off the pitch and whilst he is at the club starting regularly, there is little debate to be had about who captains the team.

Ability-wise, he’s a decent player at this level but no more than that. Kennedy is a better footballer in my opinion. Lawlor is behind both Pearson and Kennedy in terms of ability. What I would say is, it would be very difficult to find a player of his ability with his leadership skills at our level.

To finish, there are other areas on the pitch that require far more attention. Anything further forward than centre back has been neglected in recent years - clearly finance causes this issue. Quality higher up costs more.

Hooper has ability but he obviously realized quickly that he would be playing upfront isolated and was on to a losing cause.

If as it seems Keates will be manager next season we need a striker who can cope upfront isolated on there own i.e not playing a 5.8 midfielder there.

Hooper has ability but lacks application. It was noticeable in the very first game against Barrow.

I think that Hooper is a good player and could be very effective at this level. However, on the few occasions that I have seen him play, he just doesn't look like he is giving his all. His injury saga, when the whole thing just dragged on, underlined his lack of application. Taxi for Hooper!
Most of the present squad who are soon to be out of contract, are understandably worried. The first few on my list to go are Dibble and Rutherford. Dibble is a young guy with potential, but he just has not progressed in his time here. Early this season, when Lainton was injured, many points were thrown away due to Dibbles performances. I have mentioned Rutherfords weaknesses many times before. Running around a lot, does not disguise the fact that (for a winger) he cannot outstrip a full back, or has a physical presence, marginally greater than a year 10 in a High School!
Akil Wright is another great prospect that just has not progressed, and he has to go.
In a nutshell, our problems last year were up front rather than in defence. Supposed attacking players should be looking at themselves, as they failed to generate chances/goals. I am sure that training and tactics were a major reason why our performances were dour for a large part of the season. I don't feel that Keates has the ability to change his system/style so for me, its bye bye Deano. And, Pep Darlington needs to sling his hook as well.
