A few years ago, when Keates started managing here, my boss always used to comment that Wrexham had won or drawn. "Playing well are they"? He struggled to understand when I said that we were not playing well, and it was generally dire to watch.

Keates blew the transfer budget on Ainge, Franks and Deverdics, which must have been the worst "attacking" trio ever signed.

Ricketts realised how small time things are here. He knew there was no real desire to kick on in that January and release some funds to really have a crack at promotion. He got out when his stock was high. A failed playoff campaign and he might never have been approached by another club.

Can only imagine the things that he knows went on but hasn’t mentioned.

Did he tell you this? I suspected a bigger salary and an opportunity/break to manage a stable club, 2 divisions higher up the FL pyramid was the reason.

After Ricketts request to oust Pep Darlington was rejected he must have realised what a bunch of jobs for the boys, clueless amateur's he was dealing with.

How many other conference clubs who were challenging at Christmas lost their managers to another club? I can't think of any, there might be the odd one though.
I can't think of any eventual league winners losing manager half way through a season. Only at Wrexham. Shows how weak and utterly feeble the club board were, just sat back and waved him goodbye.

You would have to have been living on the moon to not believe there's more to the Ricketts saga than Pete and co told the fans. Remember they told bare faced lies about the Graham Barrow debacle too.
