IMO there is a lot more going on behind the scenes that none of us at our level will ever know. The land is owned by the Council and is covered by a covenant, the building is a grade listed building. Just maybe the Council are offering this as a training ground to get themselves off the hook of a property they are scratching their heads what to do with. That does not mean that we have to take it, time will tell.

Why can’t we go back to colliers ?

You might make an interesting point. Local government business requires councils to achieve best value for the council tax payer. It is a requirement not desirable. If the supporters want this site its to be hoped no rate payers challenge it.

Initially the site was mooted for housing which would raise a good deal of revenue for the impoverished council budget.

Perhaps things are happening which we mere mortals know nothing about

We’re considering taking the field, not the substantial buildings which carry the alleged architectural importance! Giving us the field does little to assist WCBC with main structure, it may even make disposal of it more difficult!

I am aware that it is only the field that is under consideration. However, knowing how deep the council work, who knows what they have in mind for the future. Unless of course you already know the plan.

My fear knowing what WCBC and our trust board are like is that neither have a fully researched and financially assessed plan. I’d be very surprised if this is anything but “how about this land....go on then”.

The substantially inadequate numbers muted for a full training ground development (£800k) despite it not being big enough, reinforce that little thought has gone into this or the wrong people are driving it.

I agree exactly. The other point I would make is if planning permission for the school on 9 acre is refused, do we stay there? or move to the inadequate Groves.

The 9 acre is equally as inadequate, theres no toilet no changing room no facilities whatsoever and the pitches clearly aren’t up to standard as most of the winter we were training all over the shop. I joked yesterday about returning to our ‘spiritual home’ at Lex but that’s streets ahead of the 9 acre as atleast you can have a piss.

I think you have summed it up there when you say they are taking the piss.
