It doesn't.

We are fortunate that the ground sits within the new Gateway site. There would have been no chance of anything had it not.

Would it have been a gateway site if the club wasn't there, and if people at our club hadn't made the argument for it?

I'd argue that in fact the town is fortunate to have a professional football club, situated in such a prominent location.

I also know that people involved in our club have put in huge amounts of time and effort, hundreds of hours, to make this happen. This wouldn't have happened without their work. Personally, I am grateful for their efforts and excited that things are moving forward. I can't see how this and the training ground are anything but positive.

The location is the gateway to the town, with or without the Racecourse.

Football club I'll give but, but 'professional' is questionable for reasons already done to death on here.

If there was a car dealership there, and a B&Q, it's unlikely that the council and the Welsh government would not be putting this effort in.

I think they would still do the infrastructure work around the train station.

If there was a car dealership and a B&Q it probably wouldn't look as tatty as it does now, less derelict land certainly.

More clarity and transpareny needed - I won't hold by breath.
That is a very good point. Glyndwr have to play ball with this one and given their stance on the use of Dean Road playing fields i would suggest they might not be too amenable to working with the Council and the WAG

They have just worked with the council big time - for the last three months Wrexham’s homeless have been staying in their Plas Coch halls. Expect them to get their way on Dean Road anytime soon.

Glyndwr are part of the Gateway Partnership.

“Two critically important plots of land have been acquired by the Welsh Government as part of preparatory steps for the Wrexham Gateway development, demonstrating the commitment to this project, Minister for North Wales Ken Skates has said.

The Wrexham Gateway Partnership between Wrexham County Borough Council, Wrexham Glyndŵr University, Wrexham AFC and Welsh Government is continuing to develop its plans for the regeneration of the Mold Road area of the town.

Two key strands of the proposals are the creation of a regionally significant sporting and events stadium at the Racecourse Ground and the integration of the public transport network, with improved links between bus and rail services.

Welcoming the Minister’s statement, Professor Maria Hinfelaar, Vice-Chancellor of Wrexham Glyndŵr University said: “It is wonderful to see the ambitious vision for the new Gateway into Wrexham gradually becoming a reality, with practical steps being taken and government investment being committed.

“At the university, staff and students will embrace this opportunity and we look forward to working with partners to deliver the plans.””
