People bang on about Morrell, but the facts are he had a team of very good players who were already playing well. He just had to keep it ticking along. As a general rule of thumb the better players win more games.
Morrell lost 3 major players in Speight, Pogba and NKP in the summer of 2012, then took us to the playoff final and won the Trophy. After he’d already lost Fowler and Obeng halfway through the 2011-12. That team people say he inherited was half taken apart by the end of it. He also lost Creighton for the whole 12-13 season after about 3 games.

I’d judge him more on 12-13 and look where he took us.

Morrells win/loss ratio and PPG lowered each and every single transfer market....

as mentioned above.. Morrell inherited thee best squad we have had since down here.. that finished the season on 98 points. the squad he inhereited had the confidence and ability to continue with what they was doing.

its funny looking above at some defending Morrell.. yet i bet if we went back to the posts on here to when Morrel was in charge most the ones defending him now.. was probably slating him and calling for his head on a plate back then

That's because our ambitions have changed. Not winning the league and then not winning the playoffs was a disappointment.

Now under Keates people are saying he's "done well" to keep us up thanks to a pandemic.

The clubs ambitions are dead in the water. That's why some people are so accepting of Keates.

If you're going to go back and look at some posts, I'd suggest starting with your own posts, to see how much of anything and everything you've been totally wrong about over the years. particularly pre season prediction type posts.

Isn't it fair and reasonable that fans would look to compare our managers from the non league era given our continued failure to gain promotion?

Yeah but it looks bad on the board so he’s here to silence anything like that.

Even Morrell our most successful Conference manager was appointed by Moss.

That will hurt Todd and Andy, the fact that the WST piggy backed on the manager and squad Moss put in place, its relative success and then couldn't carry it on. Bar the odd season of flirting with the play offs and then ultimately failing we've been going backwards ever since.

Maybe the WST should invite Moss to 'work within the current structure' and bring some much needed football expertise (in comparison to the clowns working the controls now) to the table?

What do you think lads?
