Thanks for the bone, its a surprise to me also. It is a sharp reminder, however, of our failures on the pitch.....

He was trying to do a Glazier sort of. He wanted to reverse in with no cash with Moss effectively funding him by drawing down payments against cash made in the business I think.

Anyhow, congrats to them/him I guess.

Wasn’t his plan to follow the Chelsea pitch owners model?

Wasn’t that Andy Smith (another of Hamilton’s crooks) who was behind that idea? He used to post on here too I remember?

Pitch ownership thing was definitely a key idea of Cleeve's, although others might have proposed it too.

Cleeve was Madman on here - his posts make interesting reading.

Particularly

"As for the WST I wish them well, they have a huge job on their hands and they should not underestimate it but that said they have some very good skill sets both in the trust and with Wrexham fans in general and as long as they put principles ahead of personalities they should do well."

"Personally I would prefer to lose 4 bigger name future signings and keep the youth system in place. The youth can produce players which not only do fans identify with more (fans love to see players coming up through the ranks) but if we had to they could produce an income. Clearly this idea is not without risks and would need very careful management and you would need to ensure that the first team players were bought very well indeed. Re-establishing the youth team once dismantled is also a big job"

(Obviously talk is cheap, and as a full disclaimer, at the time I was fully supportive of the WST bid and was relieved when they got it instead of Cleeve!)

Completely agree with those points to be fair.

He has got a very sketchy past though, and I remember clearly at the time that it was a no-brainer that we avoided getting involved with him

Good find Jaded

Interesting to read back on those days, with the angle of a "failed bidder" who appeared to put a lot of time into acquiring the Club

His views on Lindsay could be attributed to a lot of current posters even today

Talk of Richard Green as well - where is he now??

Also, what happened to alex_red_4_life? Seem to remember him being a good poster

Didn't he claim to have used the money he'd saved up for his wedding to help the club pay the bond to the National League? Or am I imagining that?
