Default Re: Claim back your season ticket refund (#NotAPennyMore)

Appointment of Linsey Jones and his ensuing declaration of war convinced me to get the money back. Up till then I was going to let them keep it.

If you are a supporter of Wrexham AFC, and are not relying on a Season Ticket Refund to support yourself and your family, please don't request any money back, or you will be effectively shooting yourself (or your favourite recreation) in the foot.

Cartman: You are wrong. You are guilty of spreading untruths!!

In order to be a director of the governing body, every one of them has to be a paid-up member of the WST, just like every other member. You can bet your life that some of them (even if not all of them perhaps) will be contributing more than the minimum amount, to say nothing of the value of the volunteer work that they carry out.

In making your ridiculous and untrue statement, has it occurred to you that when grants are available for certain projects, but "match-funding" is required, i.e. an equal amount to be contributed by the club to balance the amount awarded in the grant, then the equivalent cash value of the award is accepted by the awarding bodies based upon the hours worked on a voluntary basis (at a rate appropriate to the task NOT the volunteer's normal pay rate in his/her "day job, "as well as any actual financial contribution?

That is one of the advantages of the status of the governing body not being a privately owned business, and real recognition of the work carried out by those who volunteer.

Why claim a refund if you love the club? If you do it to spite someone who you have been convinced is not worthy of holding a Board position, then depleting the club's finances is not going to hurt that person - but it will definitely hurt the club that you are supporting, which makes no sense at all.

If, on the other hand, you are in a situation where a refund is vital to you and your loved ones, then do make your request. Remember that not every club is offering refunds to its ST holders: Even Premier League Newcastle United is one example.

(NB. it is a legal requirement for every club to OFFER refunds to ST holders, but if the offer is declined, then MAKING refunds is not compulsory for the clubs involved.)
Oh god not this head case again. Thought you'd retired back to your cave.

True fans shouldn’t claim a refund. Really? For example claim £60 refund. Club reclaims £10 vat. Donate £60 to club or wst. Club ends up with £10 more.

Not saying what each person should do but the slagging off those who reclaim is both morally and mathematically incorrect.

I think that's why they are using the UTST fund rather than getting people to say keep the money. Effectively people have got the money back and then redonated so the club gets the extra £10.

WST board members do indeed have to be paid up as per the normal time scale. They do not , as you suggest, have to be season ticket holders.

I can totally understand the feeling re the WST and I agree we need more openness and change, let alone the performance on the pitch to be sorted.

But it’s sad that so many are sick of things and will take the refund back because the thought is enough is enough re money and the performance of the WST.

Clearly times are tough and not everyone will have a choice.

I wish we had the same feeling that our arch rivals Jester fans have. Ie they’ve raised over £85k towards their build the budget target and have now started a £30k fund to support their playoff run in.

I wish the WST BOARD , who are supposed to represent the members, would read RP and get a flavour of the thoughts of some of the membership - granted it is a minority.
They are damaging our club and limiting possibly funding and progress on the pitch.

I will not request a refund, but only out of desperation that things are going to change in some way.
Please Spencer and Co , swallow some pride and get the fans United.

We read so many news stories about Wxm being a sleeping giant. Well someone needs to grab the horns and sort this club out - bring back the ‘glory’ days , get the crowds back and become some kind of hero, rather than being remembered for putting the club to sleep

you think it's only a minority that are unhappy with the current state of the club?
