What was to stop him from resigning if he wanted to ? the club could have sacked him at any time.
Same with Keates. He leaves to takeover at Walsall. They can "let him go" and maybe get some compensation or he can resign and we get nothing and Walsall presumably pay any pay off that he would miss out on by him resigning.
The board have done a terrible job all in all but to say Keates was "allowed" to leave assumes that they could held him to his contract , and when does that happen in football now ?
Keates lacking loyalty to the club - yes The board taking a hit for this one ? in this case a bit unfair IMO. (Taking Keates back after he walked out, different story)
