Hopefully any decent players get out like the lad who went to Swansea last season.

The players emerging from our youth system aren’t good enough. Those that are generally move on well before making the first team.

Not having a reserve team doesn’t help the situation at all. It’s a huge step from youth football to first team football. I blame the board 100 per cent on this. No manager coming in will be bothered about Wrexham as a long term entity and will look to maximise the money available for the first team. The Club Board should insist on having a reserve side playing competitive football.

I agree fully with PS with the only reservation being about the ability of our young emerging players - if they don't get a fair chance to prove themselves how do we know they aren't good enough?

We have a large catchment area if you include Deeside and down the coast which has produced so many fantastic players over the years. We cannot afford to pay big wages (or are not prepared to) so we end up with the relentless stream of journey men who are either outstandingly average or in most cases worse. We should be giving our young players the opportunity to progress - once we are seen to do that others will want to be part of the Club and standards are bound to improve. Along with this we have got to give them time and keep off their backs.

The present mind set has not worked we have wasted many thousands on exceptionally poor players - as we are not quite in the position to buy Gareth Bale we need to find the next one.

Niedzwiecki, Joey, Mickey, Armstrong, Brace, Phillips, Bryan Hughes, Maxwell, Lee Jones, Gareth Owen, Durkin, Hardy and Watkin to name just a few. You could name a team of players who came through the ranks but you could not eve fill the bench in the last 8 years. Heartbreaking how the clubs been stripped of success, income and no forward planning.

Same with long term injury casualties.

A player will go from training to being thrown straight into the cauldron - most don't appear up for it but is it any wonder.

Judging a youth player on the very occasional Scottish Tennants Cup tie against other similar weak second choice teams is never going to work - they need to be playing on a regular basis but it has no way of happening.

No doubt funding as ever will be a massive issue - and it's going to get a lot worse from now on.
Tranmere, Salford, Macclesfield, Chorley, Southport and others have or do field pretty cost effective u21 sides - a step above u18 and 3 over age players allowed so chance to give squad players freshen up games - if you look hard enough there are always options

Not many in the last few years. Recent rule changes have effected them less so than ourselves but it’s still far too easy for young players to be poached by the big fish.

Don’t forget the funding they receive against our £nil and also the National League is a far different animal.

How is the National league a different animal?
