Dan Nolan has done a good job with the kids.
Are you sure? Admittedly he was up against it from the off but he has no prior experience at all and no CV on taking over to use his profile to attract players. He also took the best centre midfielder in his age group, a shoe in for a pro according to people far more qualified than me, tried to turn him into a winger and lost the player completely.

However it is very difficult to judge him based on the diminishing reserves he’s had to work with.

Just on your point that the fund raising to the first team was manager led - it wasn’t. Andy was the manager at the time of the first and most tragic changes and he absolutely didn’t make this stipulation. It came from the board not Andy.

Look at the posts regarding the CoE Pre takeover from the then (and still) Trust activists such as Lindsay, John Mills etc - they were against it Pre takeover calling it Geoffs baby because his lad played. They never had any intention of doing anything other than what they have done. They would have closed it had they not been scared of the fan reaction so have instead cut it to death over time.

Thanks BV. Thought it was Mills that pulled the rug from under the CoE. to get extra funding for the first eleven, didn't realise that the board were complicit in the decision.

It happened straight after the play off defeat - letters sent to all parents asking for £430. They wouldn’t let me use the 5k I’d raised a few months earlier, or look for sponsorship to help those that couldn’t afford it. Andy even offered to give up some 1st team budget because he understood the bigger long term picture. At the same time a budget was set for selling off the best young players - starting with Dan Griffiths who was sold off to Liverpool then to meet the targets anyone with any interest was actively offloaded. At the time I asked that we upped our game to at least compensate for the costs yet the work ethic, desire and commitment to give the kids great experiences actually got worse.

Outrageous way to run a football club. And still have the cheek to tell us they are best for the job

They should have looked for sponsorship or other ways to fund our once proud youth system, but can you imagine how bad the quality of our players we'd have had if a chunk of our budget went into the youth set up, it's been bordering Sunday league standard as it is.

They’ve had plenty of offers/opportunities for sponsorship but turned them down or just not made any effort to reply.

I've said it before, but the way Jones and Co have systematically destroyed our youth system is nothing short of scandalous. If that was partly down to it once being Moss' baby then that takes the biscuit, even by their own low standards.

They weren't complicit, they made the decision. Not sure why you used the word complicit. Hmmmn.

Should be a thread of its own, that BV post.
