'Complicit' is an interesting word choice here, that's for sure. Presumably, as Phil said, the board made the decision? If that's not the case, then why not? Surely for something 'big picture' like this it should be the board either making decisions or allowing members to make a decision via a motion at an AGM (LOL), rather than being left to an individual manager?

The board not complicit in running the CoE down? Same poster said it was the boards decision not to pursue all possible sponsorship opportunities regarding the CoE when I questioned the commercial department.

If I recall correctly. There was a time when there was a party interested in funding the CoE (BV might confirm this) The majority of the trust board at the time were strongly against external funding and BV was subjected to some abuse by a particular member.
This happened at the time the trust were negotiating with Moss over the takeover.
Have to say that Richard Owen (who was chair at the time) was open minded about investment.

When does the spin machine have to be back in Spencer's office?

The same person who stepped in on bond day to cover the short fall in the final hour was interested in helping. Richard knew about this, he also knew that there was interest in creating a funding block to try and get either the ground £1.3m or Colliers £0.25m in the takeover but the Trust took the view that 100% and both sold to Glyndwr was better than less than dual invesment (even retaining a majority stake) with a retained asset.

We now pay 7% commercial yield on one of the assets and need to spend £700k replacing the other (without parity given that Colliers had a 3G)

I often wonder how different things could have been if people had listened to him.

Is this the youth team that won the league ?

"Is this the youth team that won the league ?"

The Youth team (under 18's) did win their league, but I think the lack of funding/running down refers to the whole youth system and Centre of Excellence
