My SWA comrades at Prenton Park told me Mickey Mellon was on his way to Dundee United prior to his departure being announced AND his replacement had already been lined up - current Colchester United manager and TRFC legend John McGreal, a native of Liverpool - the downside is he is still under contract at Colchester.

Lots of names being thrown into the frame including our ex midfielder Anthony Barry, Nigel Clough, Nigel Adkins who from memory is close to Mark Palios and has been seen at Prenton Park previously - speculation will no doubt continue to spiral until an official announcement is made. Mickey Mellon's number 2 Mike Jackson has also been mentioned as a possible.

The reference to Dean Keates ? it may have originated or been started by a Wrexham fan (according to the Tranmere forum 'The Paddock) someone claiming Keates has actually applied for the job - just can't see it personally as I would be willing to give his application the full support that it deserves - however what has Keates ever achieved in a managerial role that would appeal to another clubs Chairman ? exactly - nothing at all !
