Exactly hard work is the bare minimum you should expect from a player and as Chris Wllder refreshingly said earlier in the season he's not going to praise a player for putting in a shift.
Sadly Rutherford will run himself into the ground and produce nothing. Just a headless chicken.

What by sticking the V's up to his own fans and telling them to fck off? How dare they react

Some of his performances were a disgrace, you can't deny that surely?

Chorley away he might as well stayed sat on the bus. Useless, no effort and did not care one bit.

The most frustrating thing for me with Grant is that it's obvious he has some footballing ability but doesn't apply himself here. To be loaned out to a club two leagues above doesn't happen unless he has footballing ability. If he was just shit and had a bad attitude he'd have ended up being loaned out to the lower leagues.

It's the old conundrum, would you rather someone who has ability but gives 50% (although in some games that might be generous) like Grant or would you rather someone with lesser ability but gives 100% like a Paul Rutherford?

I wish we could have both but unfortunately it looks like we'll have to pick one or the other unless something changes.

Neither. Someone else all together.

Your right - Grant indeed does have football ability - the same could be said about JJ Hooper and others before him - repeatedly no matter what the personnel is they fail, only to leave and flourish somewhere else - John Rooney to name one.

Not every signing will come good - but god we have signed far more players than our fair share - that might be the problem - a small close knit squad who know and understand each other might be a better option but I can't help feeling that when a player with ability and desire arrives at Wrexham that behind the scenes we do little to encourage and better them and ultimately get the best from them that they can offer - I would trust John Coleman at Accrington to get the best from Grant - I wouldn't trust anyone at Wrexham to improve a player with potential.

Bit pedantic, this. I did say "like" Grant or Rutherford so it could be someone else all together.

But I suppose a follow-up question: Who was the last player we had to have natural ability on the ball and give 100%? Manny Smith? I couldn't answer in an attacking sense, though.

Early days, but maybe one of the young lads brought in recently - Jarvis/Keillor-Dunn? From what little I have seen there is definite quality in there.
But yeah, I get your point if you looked back a bit further.

He's a scouser what did you expect? Probably couldn't take the abuse off the fans and gave it back.

I'm not denying some of his performances were a disgrace, but so was some of Pearsons and quite a few others notably Dibble.

For me he is one paced no second gear and probably a stirrer in the dressing room an edge to him like he thinks he's above the rest..

All I was pointing out is if it wasn't for his goals we would be playing Chester next season, but expect another season of failure under the Peaky Blinders and Keates.
