Keates brought in Simon Ainge......

Isn’t one of Darlington’s roles helping with recruitment but correct me if I am wrong, so yes it was Hughes who signed him but Darlington May of had a hand and the board sanctioned this bizarre signing.

now if we could sign Jamie Reckord as his replacement that would be ideal.

Also, doesnt Nathan Craig play as a left back?
Nathan Craig’s signed for Flint...

My thoughts entirely. At face value its a great idea to get in fresh legs but all we ever seem to do is downgrade

I think he's one of the best left-backs we've had down here (obviously peak Ashton gets in the Wrexham non-league XI but I think it's fair to say Jennings is 2nd choice left back) so it's up to Keates to find someone better.

After the injury he got last season and the fact he's 32 usually means that his days as a pro footballer are numbered. At the very least he's got more matches behind him than in front of him.

Jamie Reckord is a good shout (despite the fact apparently he has attitude problems) for a replacement but we'll see. Maybe, like some predict, with there being less jobs in the upper leagues better players will fall to non-league.

Mixed feelings on this one. He can be frustrating at times, but a very solid defender at this level. Left back became a bit of a problem position after Ashton went right up until when Jennings arrived so fingers crossed we can find a decent replacement.

Wasn't it Keates who signed him in the first place?
