Football back in October?

Just seen on the news Boris has said they're aiming for crowds back in stadiums from October.

Still a lot of time for things to chop and change, but assuming the league would only return when fans are allowed, should we be starting to think about putting a squad together with an eye on the season starting in October?

We will now pay the full penalty for not having a focused and consistent youth policy - promising young players to fill the gaps? no, just some mediocre and cheap journeymen.

That was my exact first thought as well. We're going to have to try to assemble a squad without a cast iron guarantee about when the stadium can open to fans and subsequently if it will remain open for all games all season. Even if a season start date was confirmed soon, season ticket sales will be very low and this is where a good youth system would be coming into its own. We could go for a small core of established pros and supplement it with some youth which would presumably be quite cheap.

If only.

Might be different for Wales wouldn’t get too excited on the other hand we may have to play a number of games away from home at the start of the season who knows what the future will bring

Not name dropping but just talking to John Askey he confirmed EFL muted starting season behind closed doors, but he and playing staff are still furloughed for now.

He said he's been interviewed 3 times by Wxm. I guess part of the reason we didnt get him was size of the fee Macc wanted.
