Its political. The council could if they had the will - remove the covenant as they will have to do in order that the club can take a piece of the land. note the old buildings are listed.

If it was removed the land could be developed with luxury apartments facing Park Avenue and the council taxpayer of Wrexham would benefit. It is, indeed, mystifying why a council which admits it is cash strapped is handing over a prime development site in town. But the club will be a beneficiary.

I doubt if we refused the site of the groves that the council would then try to sabotage the gateway project

Somethings not making sense here. The council could indeed turn this prime site into something generating revinue..
If they really want to get chummy with the club, find an agricultural flat site somewhere for the club to purchase.. And in time give it planning permission to develop it.

They could, my understanding is the redevelopment is being done in phases. The Railway station first, I'd bet Glyndwr will be getting use of the buildings at Groves.
