Yeah the player budget will definitely take a hit now. And that's with a useless manager in charge, they are playing with fire here, its the perfect storm.

I absolutely expect another relegation battle and Keates will not be the manager come Christmas.

All that money wasted on absolutely nothing. Scandalous.
At the very best we will have 2 pitches, one the size of the Racecourse pitch and another 3G pitch with a small clubhouse and parking. That may be enough for the level we are at now but there is zero room to expand should we go up and require more space for the youth teams and fringe players. We cannot rely on the FAW to allow our youngsters to train at Colliers forever. On top of this there will be little money making opportunity through renting the facilities out.

Lincoln City not long ago built a training centre worth £1.3 million. It is a 12.3 acre site with 3 pitches, a gym, changing rooms & staff offices, as well as performance analysis facilities. That is what we would be competing with should we go up, as they built this when they were in League Two. We have less than 8 acres to work with, which is no where near enough.

They can't honestly anymore be thinking the future is anything other than what it is now , so why bother thinking about the future at a higher level , this is it .

Which to me all adds up to a big fat 'no' for the Groves.

If the alternative is wasting money away by training at the Racecourse in good weather and renting out The Rock or The Airfield in poor weather or to prepare for away games on plastic pitches, then so be it. The whole Groves site idea appears to be one big, irreversible mistake waiting to happen.

It stinks of a lack of forward planning.

It's not Lincoln City they look at as a model for this club , it's more Altringham i'm afraid .

My previous comments are more aimed towards what the club should do rather than what they will do. The fact they have put this proposal to the fans is enough to show their lack of ambition and forward planning.

What is the worst that can happen if we buy a larger amount of land? We don't develop it and get taxed on it? How much would that come to for an extra 4 acres or so?

Alty is a tidy little football club and will be in the play off final v Boston. The ground must be worth a fortune situated where it is. Plucked players from mainly NPL clubs including manager Parky.
