I went to the open day before the start of last season and sat down to watch the training session as per the timetable. The players strolled out 25 mins late and then Hughes eventually turned up to watch the session. I thought at that point it was going to be a difficult season... Apart from the fact that the team kept fans waiting, he just wasn't engaged enough in the session for me.

Truly I think he just lacked every single quality needed to do the job well...self awareness, confidence, leadership, aggression. That doesn't even take into consideration those skills that can be acquired by learning like coaching aptitude, tactics, knowledge of players etc

Not that strange.

We sign players and managers based on sentimentality wherever possible because we are devoid of other ideas

We appoint as fans and not as business leaders, if you don’t have business skilled people and some who will at least question the stronger characters within the group making these decisions it’s going to continue to fail. I was told from a current director that someone who got elected last year was just this sort of character but walked away very quickly due to these failings.

It's hard to see what qualities he had that made the board think he was the outstanding candidate. Even when people like Mills and Little didn't work out, I can understand the logic of their appointment. I just couldn't/can't see any logic in Hughes.

I agree, I can see the logic in a cheap ex Wrexham appointment (even if I don't agree with it) but Hughes? Just looked all wrong from the off.
