Default Abstentions

The dictionary definition of abstention is declining to vote for or against a proposal

In the AGM voting they are clearly classed in the against column as they are added to the total votes cast meaning they affect the percentage of yes votes in exactly the same way as a no vote does.

Abstentions have affected some proposals in a way that the abstained may not have meant to.

Does it specifically say in the constitution that abstentions are treated in this way?

Interesting observation, BV. I abstained on one vote — the last resolution — simply because I could not decide either way. IMHO, it is wrong to include abstentions in the count. After all, those who did not vote on any resolution effectively abstained from the process for whatever reasons.

Unsure what the constitution says, but a point that should be raised with the independent secretary.

On a wider point, the general thrust went the way of the status quo. Wrexham truly has become a conservative home rather than a counter-revolutionary hot-bed. The die is cast, and we will need Lady Luck more than ever unless the WST reflect and act appropriately after a truly awful season.

Surely if an abstention isn't taken out of the total votes then it's effectively a "no".

Should be yes vs no.

So everyone who did not vote at all voted NO?

Effectively as they're not "yes" votes

You should deduct the abstentions prior to calculating percentages imo. I've quickly checked a few of the percentages just now and this hasn't been done

The Resolution R would have received 65.74% rounding up gives 66%.

Tbf I'm going through the ones that didn't carry but above 50%. I'm assuming they need 66%? And none of them do

Are you allowed to round up tho? If that .26 equates to less than one person then I assume so but I'm not sure if it does
