Incredible is the word I can remember when we played the mighty Chelsea late on in our last season in 81-82 less than 4000 paying customers,I bet we did not average 6000 fans that season. |

Re: Are we the next Salford/Forest Green/Fleetwood?
But our near extinction galvanised the fan base and credit to the WST members, we all contributed to keeping our club alive. That togetherness shaped the fan base plus we are in a different era of football now to the late 80’s when 1200 watched Wrexham playing Southend (or Hereford) on a cold December night.
Money is required to enable us to compete at the highest level in this league and those above. I have every confidence, that given a positive decision on exploring possibilities, the fan base have come too far, to allow anyone to undermine our efforts. |

Re: Are we the next Salford/Forest Green/Fleetwood?
to be fair everyone contributed to saving Wrexham not just wst members, i know many people who put substantial amounts in and have never been members including myself,
from the season John Neal took over and throughout the seventies we had some excellant attendances, for big games, it was from 76/77 onwards that attendances were substantial, in the eighties, if memory serves we got relegated three seasons on the run and our attendances plummeted in line with that. Since the seventies the population of the Wrexham district has increased as has Flintshire and Denbighshire, there are still fans in most north Wales towns and many mid Wales towns, we have a unique situation which could be tapped, however it will mean success on the pitch, Wrexham can attract far more fans than any given town/city of a similar size and that is why we need to thanks the Wst for their efforts and welcome in new owners |

We had sold almost everyone as we were going bust We were getting relegated Everyone's crowds were poor due to high unemployment and thousands stayed away due to regular violence on the terraces. |
