Default Well done - Manager and Board

Having signed so many ex-Solihull Moors’ players, I looked at their fans forum last night to see whether there were any comments about them. Their forum is very small but there were a few comments and it seems that all four of the players were popular and there was agreement that this was good business by Wrexham. There was also a couple of comments that suggested that our club was seen as living in the past and was entitled to success, being too good for the National League. Reading some of the negativity on these pages makes me think that, in some cases, this is true. Dean Keates will never win over some people who write on these pages and neither will our current Board. However, I think that they deserve huge credit for being able, in a very short time and under the most challenging conditions most of us have ever faced, to put together what looks like a strong, well-balanced squad of players. For the first time in many years there appears to be proper competition for places and a variety of possible playing styles. It’s also great to see that two young, local lads will have a part to play in the squad too. Just a few weeks ago, this looked to be impossible and there was an understandable deep concern that our club wouldn’t even survive in this league. Credit where credit is due. Well done, Mr Keates and thank you to the Board for backing him. Let’s get behind them and help get off to a good start in a couple of weeks time.

When it comes to WAFC, I see myself as a realist, not a pessimist. rich05ard may well disagree with me. Happy Clappers come across as patients on a Prozac trial - they are that content with the goings on at Cae Ras.
Perhaps, if tonight’s activities bare fruit, we can have a more united fan base. Because it’s clearly not at present.

highlighted bit is spot on, we being a league club has long since sailed I'm afraid, we are currently the embodiment that is a NL club on and off the pitch, however, it is now our duty and goal to get back to being the embodiment of a long serving Football league club.

On the issue of credit when credit is due, Keates on paper has seemingly built a strong team to challenge, but footy is played on grass not paper - we'll see where we are at by November before giving him medals.

As for the board, makes you think why have they seemingly been splashing the cash this season, the most unpredictable season in our history..... jury's also out on them, and allegedly the judge has dusted off his black cloth............

I'm reasonably happy with our transfer activity, but can't help but think any major praise for it is premature when we haven't played a single league game yet.

Fairly good signings on paper but let's see what they achieve on the pitch. I'm prepared to wait and see but with the current management team I think it is unlikely that we will be challenging for promotion.
