Lainton 9 - good keepers are under appreciated sometimes. Wouldn’t have won that without him.
RHJ 7 - looks good going forward, got ripped by that number 14 first half, but on the other hand he was completely exposed with no support.
Kelleher 9 - Looked superb, hopefully a long term replacement for Pearson. Stopped them going through on numerous occasions.
Vassell 6 - Gives me the impression that there’s a howler in there. Got caught out a couple of times first half too.
Reckord 7 - Didn’t really notice him which isn’t a bad thing for a full back. Didn’t do much wrong.
Durrell 6 - Frustrated me a bit today with some decisions, didn’t do enough defensively first half either which we got away with. He’s got a much better delivery than players in recent seasons though.
Harris 8 - Felt like 2012 again. Covered every blade.
Young 7 - Gets an extra mark for a brilliant goal.
Jeffrey 5 - Again frustrating. Easy to look like Gareth Bale when playing against Salford’s kids.
Thomas 3 - It’s early days. But he didn’t even look “awkward to play against” as some were suggesting makes up for his goal record. Looked like he’d never played football before at times. Hope he proves me wrong.
Yussuff 5 - not enough time

Bickerstaff 6 - raw
Rutherford 6
Horsfield N/A

Lainton: 7 - Didn't put a foot wrong and made some good saves, best being that double save very early on.
Hall-Johnson: 6 - Sorba Thomas had the running of him in the first half, but he wasn't helped by Durrell in defence. As the game went on his improved and he gets a little extra for his goal.
Kelleher: 7 - Very solid defender, can already tell why Macclesfield fans thought highly of him. Reminds me a bit of Pearson but that's a big shout after one game in a Wrexham shirt.
Vassell: 6 - Sometimes a little shaky but certainly not a bad performance.
Reckord: 6 - Solid performance but didn't do much going forward.
Harris: 8 - MOTM, although Kelleher is a close 2nd. Made so many tackles and interceptions, I think he was the difference between a win and a draw.
Young: 7 - Great goal, helped Harris out when it came to the dogged dirty work in midfield. Can never fault his efforts in a Wrexham shirt.
Durrell: 6 - Had some clever plays but I think he can do better. He's better when he's more central I think.
Jeffrey: 5 - Tried to get to the by-line a lot but didn't really create anything. He'll be a bit of a target for the boo-boys, I think.
Thomas: 5 - Won a few things but mostly anonymous. Hopefully he can find his pre-season form and replicate it when it matters.
Yussuf: N/A - Not going to rate him because he did nothing and went off fairly quickly through injury.

Subs

Bickerstaff: 6 - Thought he was the better of the two strikers out there when he came on and can see there's potential there. Nice to see youth being given a chance, too.
Rutherford: 5 - Was there to do a job and run down the clock, and did it. Nothing special.
Horsfield: N/A - Cameo appearance so unfair to rate.

Lainton 9 - solid as a rock. Imagine Dibble in those conditions dealing with all those set pieces.

HJ 7 - Looks good going forward but rinsed time and time again. Tbh I’m happy enough with it though, we may finally have a full back threat.

Kelleher 8 - looks the business, good on the ball too.

Vassell 6 - I get donkey vibes from him, probably backup though.

Reckord 6 - didn’t do much really, barely got forward

Durrell 6 - some nice touches but hardly in the game due to hoofball

Harris 8 - usual Harris, first half was a one man show

Young 7 - would be 5 if not for the amazing goal. Quite anonymous

Jeffrey 4 - struggled to keep the ball on the pitch

Yussuf 5 - didn’t look like he wanted to know

Thomas 6 - 6 just for a bit of effort, it’s clear he won’t score 10 goals this season

Lainton you said 'Didn't put a foot wrong', yet gave him 7?

Lainton 8 - kept us in it in the first frantic 10 minutes

Hall-Johnson 7 - great goal but beaten by Johnson too often
Reckord 7 - decent and solid
Vassell 6 - looked very nervy and should have scored
Kelleher 9 - commanded both boxes and looks a great buy

Harris 7 - took a while but typical JH
Young 8 - great goal but I fear Harris and Young are going to get overrun
Durrell 6 - needs to be involved more
Jeffrey 5 - not the greatest and like Durrell needs to be involved more

Thomas 6 - put himself about a bit but desperately needed support
Yussuf 5 - shame he went off on his debut

Subs

Bickerstaff 6 - Jake will be fine, he is young and hungry and will get goals
Rutherford 6 - ran around a lot when we needed him to
Horsfield n/a - not on long enough

Yes. Not putting a foot wrong and having a 10/10 performance are two different things. You could do very little in a game and make no mistakes but still doesn't mean it's a 10.

10s are for legendary performances. Like Morrell putting 7 past Myther Tydfil or Ugarte tearing Hartlepool apart. It's extremely difficult for any player to get a 10, even more so for a goalkeeper.
