Default Ratings Versus Solihull Moors

Lainton (7) - Two very important saves to keep us in it. Confident performance.

Hall-Johnson (6) - Won the penalty but otherwise posed little threat.

Kelleher (6) - Sloppy at times.

Pearson (6) - Poor decision making at times.

Vassell (6) - Solid.

Green (6) - Faded in the second-half but looks a good acquisition. Has pace, vision and can control the ball. Not scared to get forward. Good debut.

Harris (6) - Industrious but some sloppy passing.

Young (6) - As above but got 2 lucky pens.

Davies (7) - Better vision and passing than the others, but hampered by the threat of a suspension if he picked up a Yellow.

Omotayo (5) - Lacks composure and his flick-ons go anywhere. Cannot see him improving too much.

Angus (6) - His pace frightens defenders. Unlucky not to score at least once.

Subs:

Ponticelli (5) - Started well, but we were sitting far too deep in the second-half.

Rutherford (5) - Faultless!

Keates can count himself very lucky today. He does not fill me with any confidence but, dislike his style as much as I do, he is at least grinding out points. But the football is as dire as a dire thing!

A difficult one because as good as we looked in the first half we were poor in the second. That said I dont think we were that bad.

Lainton 7
RHJ 6
Kelleher 6
Pearson 6
Vassell 6
Green 6
Harris 7 MOM
Young 7 (largely for his goals)
Davies 6
Angus 6

Lainton - 7 : MOTM made a few routine saves and was generally competent to his task.
RHJ - 6: gets a extra point for winning the first pen. Other than that - poor
Green - 6: looked a bit vulnerable defensively but generally found a Wrexham player when he passed the ball and has far more energy than reckord.
Kelleher - 6: did enough. Far too many hoofed clearances for my liking. It just invites pressure!
Pearson - 6: as kelleher
Vassell - 6: as kelleher
Harris - 6: did alright but doesn’t get about the pitch as much nowadays
Young -7: gets a 7 for scoring the 2 goals. Otherwise a 6. Completes the odd nice pass but similar to Harris, he’s not mobile enough
Davies - 6: clearly has quality but didn’t really get going today and gave away a needless pen
Angus 5: won the pen but didn’t really trouble Solihull otherwise. Not clinical enough and looks far better suited to playing out wide
Gold 4: gets 4 for trying. Way off the pace and out of his depth at this level.

Rutherford 7: his one touch at the end was stupendous, along with the 20secs of harrying the opposition
Pont 5: no real impact. We seemed to suddenly drop deeper when he was introduced.

Lainton 7 - made some crucial stops
RHJ 6 - blows hot and cold but earned a pen.
Green 6 - good debut for a player who has not played in over a year, tired second half should of been subbed.
Kelleher 6 - no pace gave possession away a few times and hoofs it to much
Pearson 6 - same as Kelleher but more vocal.
Vassell 6 - same as Kelleher
Harris 7 - MOM like the old Harris first half dominated midfield. But second half faded as he tired, poor management should of been subbed earlier.
Young 7 - good first half but guilty like the rest of the team of giving possession away second half.
Davies - 6 Football brain but still raw a lot to learn gave away a soft penalty.
Angus - 6 I wish he would learn to stay on his feet, diving all over the place and won a penalty for diving luckily.
Omotayo 4 - not sure if he's a footballer, he does try but close control very poor and a passenger most of the time a level to high for him.

Subs Ponticelli 5 - all over the place running around like Rutherford producing nothing.
Rutherford not on long enough to rate.

Manager Keates 5 - a one trick pony tactically, as its social media weekend I won't say what I really think of him as a manager.

Ref 7 - controlled the game well but cocked up on our second penalty that wasn't.

Really don’t get the rating or stature that folks give Lainton. Big mistimed moment that Solihull should have scored from. The couple of mistakes he made would have been highlighted if it was Dibble. Both average keepers with Lainton shading it. Both poor with crosses/set pieces but good shot stoppers. Lainton seems to be a fan favourite for some reason.

Lainton two very good saves to keep us in it...
Green good 1st half but faded 2nd - looks good on ball and gets forward.Takes a very good corner with pace.
Defence did well really to keep Rooney quiet .Pearson and Vassell won a lot in air
Harris man of the match for me but looked tired as game went on..He keeps the middle going and puts in tough challenges..
Midfield played with purpose and high line in 1st half - gaps opened 2nd and again sat deep and invited relentless pressure from Solihull who passed well with movement for periods.
As with last game - the two starting strikers offer nothing and are not the answer. Otto can't control and retain the ball and one of the reasons we put ourselves under pressure again

Can't understand why Sang is not being given a go as he looks quick and direct

Solihull deserved a point but it's 3 points that matter
