Re: Project Big Picture
I am very suspicious of the top flight within the Premier League. Weren’t these the guys in 1991/92 who negotiated a better deal for the chosen few and stuff the rest - up until then tv money was split 92 ways.
There must be a hidden plan by footballs elite, if they feel the need to give us financial sweeteners after 28 years of us facing financial misery. The worry was always that the “top six” at the “top table” could split from domestic football and help form a European super league. Perhaps this is the ultimate aim. If they did leave us, it wouldn’t surprise me. They are out for themselves and stuff grass roots football. Sky would stop filming the domestic game, their money would not splash around the championship and leagues 1 and 2. No great surprise there then! |

Re: Project Big Picture
Bunch of bankers. These proposals give all voting power to the 'elite' six and make the rest of the premier league second class clubs.
United and Liverpool are also making room for a European Elite League in order for the Glaziers and Fenway Sports to take even more money out of UK Soccer. Never again would the like of Leicester compete for The Premiership. |

Re: Project Big Picture
Given the owners of the 2 clubs involves, could the long term aim be to set up the prem as a franchise system as in US sports. This could easily be the first step. Premier League - no relegation from or promotion into. Franchises moving towns/cities to where they think there is more money to be made

Re: Project Big Picture
I'd cut the Prem to 18 clubs and then cut the Championship to 20.
Then have 3 leagues of 22 teans. All governed by FFP. 3 up 3 down throughout the top 4 divisions and 4 down from the bottom division to allow 2 up from each of the North and South leagues. Monies would have to be redistributed throughout. |

Re: Project Big Picture
Premier League clubs have rejected the Project Big Picture proposal and agreed instead to hold an urgent strategy review involving all 20 members, as well as making a new bail-out offer to the EFL.
