Project Big Picture
Surprised there is no talk about this.
https://twitter.com/telefootball/status/1315242246594322432?s=21 This could have implications for us in future years, or even sooner, for example: “24 clubs each in the Championship, League One and League Two reducing the professional game overall from 92 clubs to 90” Which would presumably mean less teams being promoted from the National League for a couple of years. |
Re: Project Big Picture
Or more getting relegated.

Re: Project Big Picture
Wasn't the author of this a big pal of our previous owner and also had 2 youngsters at Wrexham - one a coach ? Its a small world is football.

Nah, they wouldn’t want to punish league clubs |
Re: Project Big Picture
Surely getting rid of the league cup would be sufficient?

Re: Project Big Picture
Just another example of big clubs trying to push their weight around, a bit like Game 39
Won't be enough support to get it passed, certainly not in the near future |
Re: Project Big Picture
United and Liverpool wouldn't be proposing this if it wasn't in their own interests , look at the way the Glazers take millions out of United at the moment. Philanthropy is not a word they recognise. This is probably a step towards a European super league.
I remember many good league cup nights at the Racecourse , be a shame if that opportunity disappeared for lower league teams. Not bothered about the Community Shield , at least not for a few years. |
Re: Project Big Picture
I thought the original plan was to have only 18 teams in the premier league.

Re: Project Big Picture
I can't see them closing the NL off or even getting rid of play offs. Might have 3 down/2 up for two seasons.
Some of the most successful teams in L1/L2 have come up from the NL |
