Default Wales COVID travel restrictions

Hope these don’t impact our ability to host home games.. Trying to find out if elite sport is exempt...

No it won’t, it’s just to stop tourists coming for holiday. You can still travel for work

Yeah, work is an exemption. Otherwise there'd be plenty of people travelling into Cheshire from North Wales and vice-versa out of a job. There's plenty of people in North Wales who work in Chester, for example.

Watching Wrexham feels like a job sometimes, maybe we can get a few fans in.

It was said from the off that football (professional) is an exemption.

The whole integrity of the league would be at stake if teams were stopped travelling.

Going to work or education is also exempt.

I can see the return at the borders of police intercepting inbound visitors to North Wales - it was much easier early in the year and through the summer as half the world was towing a caravan - now it will be almost impossible to wean the visitors from the locals unless they do far more stops than dip samples.

It appears there is no real change for Wrexham as we are already in a 'local lockdown' area - so as had games during that there would be no impact on the new rules that have been in for the last 40 odd minutes.

It could go as far as all business's being asked to close for 2-3 weeks, which seems to be the favoured route at the moment and was hinted at today.

Notts Red told us yesterday that his work would bring him over the border. I expect those who just want to join the Cheshire set at Abersoch will find no problems putting together an essential worker letter to show The Heddlu if they are stopped. In short the travel rules are not enforceable and unless you are driving a Chelsea tractor with a plate beginning with M the chances of being caught at the border are slim. That said there are plenty of locals on the Lleyn who might consider a call to the police from outside the holiday home.
